AI Caption Generator: Auto Subtitles for Video, Word by Word

VdoBloom AI Captions is an AI caption generator that adds auto subtitles to a talking video. Upload a clip up to 3 minutes long, the AI transcribes every spoken word with its own start and end time, you fix any word you want, and the captions are burned into an MP4 in the style you pick. Each word lights up the moment it is said.

Is it free? New accounts get 10 free credits, enough to caption two clips of up to 90 seconds each (downloads from free accounts carry a watermark). After that the price is 2 credits per minute of video, with a 4-credit minimum, and three renders are included in that one charge so you can try different styles. There is no subscription to keep: one-time credit packs never expire.

It is built for creators, coaches, podcasters and small brands who post talking clips to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, where most people scroll with the sound off and captions decide whether they stay.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your video

Any talking clip up to 3 minutes and 300 MB. Pick the spoken language or leave it on auto-detect, and turn on jump cut if you want the pauses between sentences removed. The credit cost is shown before you start.

  2. 2

    Check the transcript

Every line is editable. Words you keep keep their exact timing; a line you rewrite is re-timed across the same moment, so the captions never drift.

  3. 3

Pick a caption style and a shape

Choose one of seven styles, keep the original shape or go 9:16 with follow-face, blur fill or a two-speaker stack, and add zoom punch-ins if you like.

  4. 4

    Render and download

The captions are burned into an MP4 ready for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Three renders are included, so you can go back, change the style or a word, and render again at no extra cost.

Why use this tool

  • Word-level timing

Each word has its own start and end time, so the highlight follows the voice word by word instead of jumping a whole sentence at a time.

  • Editable before you render

Fix names, brand terms and slang in the transcript first. Nothing is burned in until you approve it.

  • Seven creator caption styles

Hormozi pill, MrBeast bold, Word pop, Karaoke highlight, Emoji accents, Keyword colour and Clean minimal.

  • Landscape to vertical

Turn a 16:9 recording into 9:16 with a crop that follows whoever is talking, a blurred fill, or two speakers stacked top and bottom.

  • Jump cut

Removes silent pauses and keeps a short margin around every word, then moves the caption timings to match.

  • Three renders per charge

One transcription charge covers three renders, so trying a second or third style costs nothing extra.

Is this AI caption generator free?

You can try it free. Every new VdoBloom account gets 10 credits at sign-up, and AI Captions costs 2 credits per started minute of video with a 4-credit minimum per video. That covers two short clips. Free-account downloads carry a VdoBloom watermark; any paid credit pack or plan removes it.

When you need more, the Lite pack is 300 credits for $19.50 one-time, or $15 a month as a subscription. One-time credits never expire, and subscription credits reset each billing cycle. The same credits work on every other VdoBloom tool.

What AI captions cost per video

The price depends only on the length of the upload, rounded up to the next minute. It does not change with the style, the shape, jump cut or punch-ins, and the three included renders are already in it. The exact number is shown before you confirm.

Video lengthCreditsRenders includedVideos per 300-credit Lite pack
Up to 1 minute4375
1 to 2 minutes4375
2 to 3 minutes6350

Which caption style should you use?

All seven styles use the same word timings, so you can switch between them in your included renders without transcribing again. Pick by the feel of the video, not by habit.

How to add captions to a video with AI

Start with the cleanest audio you have. Transcription quality follows audio quality, so a clip recorded close to the mic needs fewer fixes than one recorded across a room. Set the spoken language if you know it; auto-detect works, but naming the language helps with short clips.

Read the transcript once before rendering. Names, product names and slang are where any speech-to-text model slips, and a 20-second check saves a re-render. Then choose the shape for where the clip is going: keep the original for YouTube or LinkedIn, or 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts.

  • Keep each clip under 3 minutes; for longer recordings, cut the highlights first in Clip Studio.
  • Use jump cut on talking-head recordings with long pauses. Skip it on music or b-roll heavy clips.
  • Use follow-face for one speaker, two-speaker stack for interviews, blur fill when the whole frame matters.
  • Spend your second render on a contrasting style and post whichever holds attention better.

Languages you can caption

The language menu lists English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Turkish, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Arabic, Russian and Japanese, plus auto-detect. Non-Latin scripts such as Devanagari, Tamil, Arabic and Japanese are drawn with matching fonts. If a script cannot be drawn, the tool tells you before anything is charged.

Closed captions, open captions and subtitles

Closed captions are a separate file the viewer can switch on or off. Open captions are burned into the picture and always visible. Subtitles usually means the spoken words as text, often in the same language for social video.

AI Captions makes open captions: the words are part of the MP4, so they look the same on every app, including ones that ignore caption files. That is what short-form platforms reward, and it is why the styled, word-by-word look is possible at all.

Use cases for auto subtitles

Anything where the value is in what someone says works well.

  • Podcast and interview highlights for Reels, TikTok and Shorts
  • Coaching tips, talking-head advice and personal brand clips
  • Product explainers and founder videos for ads
  • Course snippets and quick tutorials
  • Vlogs and street-style interviews watched on mute
  • Clips you generated with AI talking-avatar or UGC tools that need captions on top

What AI Captions does not do

Knowing the limits up front saves credits. Uploads are capped at 3 minutes and 300 MB per video. The output is a burned-in MP4, not a separate SRT or VTT file, and the captions are in the spoken language rather than translated. If you only need the words as plain text, the audio transcription tool gives you a copyable transcript instead.

Each charge includes three renders. After the third, start a new upload to keep experimenting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I automatically add captions to a video?

Upload the clip to VdoBloom AI Captions, check the transcript the AI writes, pick a caption style and shape, then render. The words are transcribed with their own timings and burned into a new MP4 that is ready to post.

Is the AI caption generator free?

New accounts get 10 free credits, enough to caption two short clips, with a watermark on free-account downloads. After that it costs 2 credits per minute of video with a 4-credit minimum, and three renders are included in that charge.

How accurate are AI captions?

Accuracy follows audio quality. Clear speech close to the mic transcribes very well; music, crosstalk and heavy accents cause more slips. Because you review and edit every line before rendering, mistakes never have to reach the final video.

How accurate are the word timings?

Each word is transcribed with its own start and end time and the highlight moves on those times, so captions stay in sync with the voice, even after jump cut removes the silences.

Can I make Hormozi or MrBeast style captions?

Yes. Hormozi pill and MrBeast bold are two of the seven built-in styles, alongside Word pop, Karaoke highlight, Emoji accents, Keyword colour and Clean minimal.

Can it make my landscape video vertical?

Yes. The 9:16 options detect faces and follow the person speaking, fill the frame with a blurred copy of the video, or stack two speakers top and bottom. You can also keep the original shape.

What does jump cut do?

It removes silent pauses and keeps a short margin around every word, so the video feels tighter without clipping speech. Caption timings are moved to match.

Can I download an SRT file?

No. AI Captions burns the captions into the MP4 so they look identical on every platform. If you need the words as text, use the audio transcription tool, which returns a copyable transcript.

How long can my video be?

Up to 3 minutes and 300 MB per upload. For a podcast or webinar, use Clip Studio to cut the long recording into short captioned clips first.

Which languages are supported?

English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Turkish, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Arabic, Russian and Japanese are listed, plus auto-detect. Scripts the renderer cannot draw are refused before you are charged.
