AI Object Swap for Video: Change Outfits, Products or the Whole Scene with Genjutsu

Genjutsu is VdoBloom’s AI object swap tool for video. You upload a clip you already filmed, add one photo for each thing you want changed and give each photo a short label, and Genjutsu returns the same shot with those things replaced: a new outfit, a different product in the hand, another person in the frame, or a whole new location. Faces, body movement, camera path and timing stay as filmed. It runs on ByteDance Seedance 2.5 in edit mode.

Is it free? Signing up is free and the tab is open to every account, with 10 free credits on sign-up. A swap is priced by the length of your clip: a 5-second clip costs 68 credits at 480p or 152 at 720p, and a 15-second clip at 720p costs 456 credits. The exact figure appears the moment you pick the file, before anything is charged. Credits come in one-time packs that never expire (Lite is 300 credits for $19.50) or a monthly plan.

Two presets cover the two jobs people search for. Object Swap changes only what you label and leaves the rest of the scene alone, which is what you want for “change outfit in video” or “replace the product in this ad”. Motion Transfer keeps every person and every move and rebuilds the location around them from your photos.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a preset

Object Swap to change things inside the shot (clothes, products, props, a person). Motion Transfer to keep the people and their movement and change the place. Each card plays a real output.

  2. 2

Confirm consent and upload the clip

Tick the consent box, then add an MP4 or MOV between 2 and 30 seconds, 480p to 720p. The credit cost for that exact clip appears straight away.

  3. 3

    Add labelled photos

One photo per change, each with a label that names what it replaces or shows: “the man on the left”, “the drink can on the table”, “the street behind them”. Up to ten photos per job. Add an optional note such as “keep her hair as it is”.

  4. 4

    Choose output and generate

Pick 480p, 720p or 1080p and whether Seedance should create sound. Most jobs finish in four to seven minutes. The result lands in My Creations, and a failed job is refunded automatically.

Why use this tool

  • Change only what you name

Labels tell the model exactly which person, garment or object each photo replaces, so a wide shot with several people does not get swapped across the board.

  • Identity, pose and camera preserved

Edit mode keeps faces, stride, hand positions, camera moves and cut timing from your source clip. The output has the same length and aspect ratio as the input.

  • Several swaps in one pass

Up to ten labelled photos per job: change a jacket, the shoes and the bottle in one render instead of three.

  • Price before upload, checks before charge

The cost is quoted from the clip length before you confirm, and clips the model would refuse (too long, too large, wrong frame rate) are rejected before any credits move.

What AI object swap in video means

Object swap is video-to-video editing: the AI reads your existing footage and redraws selected parts of it to match a reference photo while keeping everything else. It is different from text-to-video, which invents a scene from nothing, and from frame-by-frame masking in a traditional editor, which needs tracking and rotoscoping by hand.

Genjutsu sends your clip to Seedance 2.5 as a reference video and your photos as reference images, with a prompt that ties each photo to its label. Seedance’s edit mode then outputs a clip as long as the input, with the labelled changes applied and the motion untouched.

  • Change an outfit: a jersey becomes a leather coat, a suit becomes streetwear.
  • Replace a product: the can, bottle, phone or box in a creator’s hand becomes yours.
  • Swap a prop or sign: a mug, a car, a poster on the wall.
  • Replace a person, with their consent and yours confirmed in the tool.
  • Move the whole scene (Motion Transfer): a stadium becomes a container port, a living room becomes a neon street.

Object Swap or Motion Transfer: which preset to use

Both presets keep the people and the motion. The difference is what your photos describe.

How much an AI object swap costs

Genjutsu bills on Seedance 2.5’s with-reference-video rate, which charges for the seconds of video sent in plus the seconds generated. Because the output is as long as your clip, a clip of N seconds is billed as roughly 2 × N seconds at the output resolution you pick: 6.8 credits a second at 480p, 15.2 at 720p and 38 at 1080p. The output side has a 4-second minimum, so a 2-second clip costs the same output as a 4-second one.

Ten free sign-up credits are enough to explore the tool and see your quote, not to run a swap. A Lite pack (300 credits, $19.50 one-time) covers four 5-second swaps at 480p or one 15-second swap at 480p with credits left over; Pro 800 ($37.70 one-time) covers a 480p test run plus a 15-second 720p final (660 credits together).

How to change an outfit in a video with AI

Outfit changes are the most common Object Swap job. The steps are the same as any swap, but a few choices make the difference between a clean result and a garment that drifts.

  • Photograph the new outfit flat or on a person, front-on, in even light. One garment per photo works better than a full look in one shot.
  • Label by position and item: “the jacket on the man walking left”, not just “jacket”. With two people in frame, name the one who changes.
  • Use the note for what must not change: “keep her hair and earrings as they are”.
  • Keep the source clip steady enough that the garment is visible for most of the shot; fast whip-pans give the model less to anchor to.
  • Test at 480p, then re-run the winning setup at 720p or 1080p for delivery.

Source clip rules and limits

Genjutsu checks every clip against Seedance 2.5’s reference-video limits before charging, so a refused clip never costs credits. Knowing the limits up front saves a re-export.

  • Length: 2 to 30 seconds. Longer clips need trimming first.
  • Resolution: 480p to 720p class sources (for example 854×480 or 1280×720). Export 4K or 1080p footage at 720p before uploading; you can still choose 1080p output.
  • Frame rate: 24 to 60 fps. File size: up to 200 MB. Format: MP4 or MOV.
  • Audio: edit mode does not carry over the source soundtrack. With sound on, Seedance generates new audio for the result; with it off, the output is silent. Add your original audio back in an editor if you need it.
  • Output length and aspect ratio always follow your clip.
  • Uploads need the consent box ticked, and every job passes content moderation. Only use footage and faces you have the right to use.

Genjutsu compared with other VdoBloom video editors

VdoBloom has several ways to change an existing video. Genjutsu is the one built around reference photos and labels; the others suit different inputs.

Tips for a realistic swap

Most failed swaps come from ambiguous labels or reference photos that do not show the item clearly. Treat the label like an instruction to a VFX artist.

  • One clear, well-lit photo per change; avoid busy backgrounds behind a product shot.
  • Match scale: a handheld product photo works for something held in the hand, not for a billboard.
  • When two targets share one photo, name the person who should stay unchanged in the note.
  • For Motion Transfer, add a note that describes the new setting in a sentence (“a container port at dusk”) alongside the location photos.
  • If one detail is off, change one label or one photo and re-run rather than rewriting everything.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI object swap video tool?

It is a video-to-video editor that replaces selected things in footage you already have, using a reference photo for each, while keeping the rest of the shot. Genjutsu does this on Seedance 2.5: you label each photo with what it replaces, and faces, motion, camera and timing stay as filmed.

Can AI change the outfit someone is wearing in a video?

Yes. Use Object Swap, upload a photo of the new garment and label it with the item it replaces, such as “the red jacket on the woman”. The person’s face, pose and movement are kept and only the labelled clothing changes.

Is Genjutsu free to use?

Sign-up is free, the tab has no plan gate, and new accounts get 10 free credits. A swap costs more than 10 credits (the cheapest, a 2-second clip at 480p, is 42), so running one needs a credit pack or plan. One-time packs never expire.

How much does it cost to swap objects in a 15-second video?

204 credits at 480p, 456 credits at 720p and 1,140 credits at 1080p. The price is per second of clip on Seedance 2.5’s with-reference-video rate, counting the input and output seconds, and is shown before you confirm.

Does it keep the person’s face and movement?

Yes. Seedance 2.5’s edit mode preserves identity, pose, camera path and timing. In the Object Swap sample on this page a player’s kit became a leather coat with his face and stride unchanged, and in the Motion Transfer sample a stadium became a container port with all the players identical.

Can I replace a product in a video ad?

Yes, it is one of the main uses. Upload a clean photo of your product and label it with the item it replaces, for example “the drink can in her right hand”. Several products can be swapped in the same job.

What video length and resolution does Genjutsu accept?

Clips of 2 to 30 seconds at 480p to 720p, 24 to 60 fps, up to 200 MB, as MP4 or MOV. Output can be 480p, 720p or 1080p and always matches your clip’s length and aspect ratio.

Is the original audio kept?

No. Edit mode does not keep the source soundtrack. You can let Seedance generate new sound for the result or turn sound off for a silent clip, then add your original audio back in an editor.

How long does a swap take?

Usually four to seven minutes. You can leave the page; the finished clip appears in My Creations, and if a job fails the credits are refunded automatically.

How is this different from Higgsfield Genjutsu?

Same model family and the same two presets. VdoBloom adds a label per photo, a price quoted before upload, checks that refuse bad clips before charging, and one-time credits that never expire. Higgsfield allows more reference photos per job.
