AI Age Progression: See Yourself Older or Younger From One Photo
VdoBloom Age Progression is an AI tool that shows the same adult at a different age from one photo. Upload a clear, front-facing picture, choose an age (a child of about 8, a teenager of about 16, their 30s, 50s, 70s or 90) and get a photorealistic portrait of the same person at that point in their life. Face structure, eye colour and shape, skin tone, ethnicity, hairstyle, expression and clothing are kept; only what ageing changes is changed.
Is it free? New accounts get 10 free credits and each age costs 5, so you can see yourself at two ages before paying. After that it is 5 credits per age on either model, and a full six-age timeline is 30 credits. A one-time Lite pack of 300 credits is $19.50 and never expires. A failed job is refunded.
People use it to see themselves old, to picture a partner at 70, for birthday and anniversary posts, and for characters in stories and films. It is a creative visualisation, not a prediction of how anyone will really age.

How it works
- 1
Upload one photo of one adult
Front-facing, in good light, with the face clearly visible. Tick the box confirming the person is an adult and that you have the right to use the photo.
- 2
Pick the age to show
Child (about 8), Teenager (about 16), 30s, 50s, 70s or Age 90. Choose a younger age to de-age, or an older one to see yourself old.
- 3
Choose a model
GPT Image 2.5 Precision is the default for faithful faces; GPT Image 2.5 is the faster option. Both cost 5 credits per image.
- 4
Generate
The portrait is usually ready in under two minutes, in a 3:4 portrait shape, with the same pose, framing, lighting and background as your photo.
- 5
Repeat for a timeline, then share
Run the other ages to build a timeline, download them, or press Animate to turn one into a short video. Every result is saved to My Creations.
Why use this tool
Same person, not a lookalike
The prompt locks face structure and bone shape, eye colour and shape, skin tone and ethnicity, and asks for the same individual at another age, never a different person of that age.
Realistic ageing cues
Skin texture and wrinkles, hair colour and hairline, and the natural change in face fullness are what change between ages.
Older and younger
Six stages run from a child of about 8 to age 90, so the same tool handles de-aging as well as ageing.
Scene kept as it is
Pose, framing, lighting, background, expression and clothing stay the same, which makes side-by-side comparisons easy.
Photorealistic portrait output
Results are photographic rather than cartoon filters, at 2K in a 3:4 portrait shape.
Simple pricing
5 credits per age on either model, shown on the button before you generate.
The six ages you can choose
Each run shows one age. Run several to build a timeline from the same starting photo.
| Age option | What changes | Popular for |
|---|---|---|
| Child (about 8) | Smoother skin and a fuller face; features and colouring kept | "Me as a kid" posts, throwback comparisons |
| Teenager (about 16) | Younger skin and fuller face, youthful hairline | Yearbook-style throwbacks, reunion posts |
| 30s | Subtle maturing of the skin and face | De-aging an older photo by a decade or two |
| 50s | Fine lines, early grey, a slightly changed hairline | Seeing yourself in 20 years, milestone birthdays |
| 70s | Deeper wrinkles, grey or white hair, a changed hairline | "See yourself old", couples growing old together |
| Age 90 | Heavily lined skin, white hair, the face fullness of old age | The full "future me" reveal, story and film characters |
Which model to use for age progression
Both models cost the same and run at 2K. Pick by whether you need the most faithful face or a faster result.
| Model | Credits per age | Resolution | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPT Image 2.5 Precision (default) | 5 | 2K, 3:4 | Keeping the likeness as close as possible |
| GPT Image 2.5 | 5 | 2K, 3:4 | Quick previews before a full timeline |

Is AI age progression free? What it costs
Your 10 free sign-up credits cover two ages. After that each age is 5 credits. Lite is $19.50 one-time for 300 credits that never expire (60 ages), or $15 a month for 300 credits that reset each cycle.
| Job | Credits |
|---|---|
| See yourself at one age (for example 70s) | 5 |
| You at 50s, 70s and 90 | 15 |
| A full timeline: all six ages from one photo | 30 |

| One age, then upscale with Topaz Wonder 3.5 (output up to 8 MP) | 5 + 4 = 9 |
How AI age progression works
The tool sends your photo to an image-editing model with a fixed instruction: show this exact person at the age you picked, keep their identity, and change only what ageing changes. Locked are face structure and bone shape, eye colour and eye shape, skin tone, ethnicity, hairstyle, expression and clothing. Allowed to change are skin texture and wrinkles, hair colour and hairline, and the fullness of the face. Pose, framing, lighting and background stay as they were.
Because you never write a prompt, results are consistent from one run to the next, and a timeline made from the same photo lines up well side by side.
Ideas: what people make with age progression
A few of the common uses:
- See yourself old: the 70s or Age 90 option for a "future me" reveal on social media.
- Couples growing old together: run both partners at 70s and put the portraits side by side for an anniversary.
- Throwbacks: show yourself as a child or teenager next to your current photo.
- Milestone birthdays: a 40th or 50th card showing the person at 70 or 90.
- Writers, filmmakers and game makers visualising a character across a story that spans decades.
- Family fun: parents and grandparents shown at the same age for a then-and-now comparison.

Tips for a more convincing result
The input photo decides how recognisable the result is:
- Use a sharp, front-facing photo with both eyes visible and even light. Side profiles and heavy shadows give the model less to keep.
- One person per photo. Crop a group shot down to the person you want to age.
- Avoid sunglasses, hats that hide the hairline, and strong beauty filters.
- Keep the default GPT Image 2.5 Precision model when likeness matters most.
- For a timeline, run every age from the same original photo rather than from a previous result, so small changes do not build up.
- If an old print is faded or scratched, restore it first in Photo Restore, then age it.
Limits and responsible use
Age progression is for fun, creativity and personal keepsakes. Keep these limits in mind:
- It is a creative interpretation, not a forecast. Real ageing depends on genetics, health, sun exposure and lifestyle, none of which a photo shows.
- It is not suitable for identification, missing-person or legal work.
- Uploads must be photos of adults (18+) that you have the right to use. Do not upload other people's photos without their consent, and no celebrities.
- Each run shows one age from one photo. There is no single-click timeline grid or ageing morph video yet; run each age separately, and use Animate if you want motion.
- Hairstyle and clothing are kept from the original, so the result shows you at another age in today's style, not in the fashion of that era.
Frequently asked questions
How can I see myself old with AI?
Upload a clear, front-facing photo to VdoBloom Age Progression, choose 70s or Age 90 and press Generate. You get a photorealistic portrait of the same face at that age in under two minutes, with your eye colour, face structure and skin tone kept.
Is AI age progression free?
Every new VdoBloom account gets 10 free credits and each age costs 5, so two ages are free. After that it is 5 credits per age, or 30 credits for a full six-age timeline. A one-time 300-credit Lite pack is $19.50 and never expires.
Will it still look like me?
The tool keeps face structure and bone shape, eye colour and shape, skin tone, ethnicity, hairstyle, expression and clothing, and changes only ageing marks such as wrinkles, hair colour, hairline and face fullness. A sharp, front-facing photo in good light keeps the likeness best.
Can I see myself younger too?
Yes. Choose Child (about 8), Teenager (about 16) or 30s to de-age the photo. The same identity rules apply in both directions.
Can I pick an exact age?
You choose one of six stages: about 8, about 16, 30s, 50s, 70s or about 90. There is no free-entry age field, but the stages cover a whole lifetime.
How accurate is AI age progression?
It is a realistic-looking creative interpretation, not a prediction. Real ageing depends on genetics, health and lifestyle, so treat the result as a "what if", not as how you will look.
Can I make a video of the result?
Yes. Press Animate under the result to open Image to Video with the aged portrait loaded and turn it into a short clip. An ageing morph from one age to another is not available yet.
Can I age a photo of my child?
No. Age Progression only accepts photos of adults (18+), and you confirm that before uploading. The child and teen options are for showing an adult at a younger age.
Can I use an old or damaged photo?
Yes, but restore it first. Run it through VdoBloom Photo Restore to remove scratches and fading, then use the restored image here, so the model ages the person rather than the damage.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Age Progression runs in the browser on phone or desktop. Sign in, upload a photo and download the result; it is also saved to My Creations.
