AI Manga Generator: Turn a Story into Manga Pages, Comics and Webtoons
The VdoBloom AI manga generator turns a written story into finished, lettered manga. Paste up to 1,500 words, or upload a selfie and write a one-line premise to star in it yourself, and the AI breaks the story into panels, draws a character sheet for each character, then draws whole pages with those faces kept the same from panel to panel. Manga pages read right-to-left, comic pages left-to-right, and webtoons come out as one vertical strip.
You pay only for the drawing steps: a character sheet costs 5 or 6 credits and a standard page costs 5 credits, so a one-hero, one-page manga from a selfie is about 10 credits, which is what a new account gets free. Story breakdown, panel layout, lettering edits and PDF or CBZ export cost nothing. It is made for writers, fan-fiction authors, webcomic creators and anyone who wants to see a story drawn without drawing it.

How it works
- 1
Write or paste your story
Paste up to 1,500 words, or switch to Star in it: add one or two selfies, name the heroes and write a one-line premise, and the AI writes the story for you.
- 2
Choose format, style and language
Pick Pages (up to 4 pages of 3 to 6 panels), Webtoon or Loose panels, one of nine art styles, and the dialogue language.
- 3
Lock the characters
The AI drafts a character sheet for each character, from your description or from an uploaded photo, and uses those sheets as references for every panel.
- 4
Draw the pages
Each page is drawn in one pass from a panel-layout template, keeping the frames, reading order and faces. Redraw any single page if you want another take.
- 5
Fix the text and export
Edit any speech bubble line for free, then download a PDF, a CBZ for comic readers, a share poster, or webtoon slices.
Why use this tool
Story to manga, not just single images
The story is split into panel beats with dialogue, laid out on a real page template, and drawn as complete pages in reading order.
Consistent characters
Up to four characters get a reference sheet before any page is drawn, and up to five of your own photos can lock faces. Every page receives those references.
Star in your own manga
Upload a selfie (or two, for a duo), write a one-line premise, and you become the hero of a story written around you.
Exact lettering in your language
Dialogue can be written in 24 languages. Exact lettering sets the real text into each bubble with proper fonts, which avoids the misspelled Hindi, Tamil or Arabic that image models often produce.
Pages, webtoons or loose panels
Right-to-left manga pages, left-to-right comic pages, a 9:16 vertical webtoon strip, or square panels for social posts.
Reader-ready exports
PDF, CBZ for comic reader apps, a single share poster image, and a ZIP of webtoon slices for uploading to webtoon platforms.
How to make a manga with AI from a story
Making a manga by hand means scripting, thumbnailing, character design, pencils, inks, tones and lettering. The generator handles each of those steps in order. Your story is read by a language model and divided into beats, each with a short line of dialogue. Characters are designed once as reference sheets. A panel-layout template is chosen for the number of panels you asked for (nine layouts cover 3, 4, 5 and 6 panels per page), and each page is drawn in a single pass from that template plus the character sheets, so the panels sit where the layout says and the faces match.
Finally the dialogue is placed in the speech bubbles. With exact lettering, the AI draws empty bubbles and the text is set into them afterwards with real fonts; with model lettering, the image model writes the text itself. Exact lettering is the safer choice for any non-Latin script and lets you change a line later without redrawing the page.
Is the AI manga generator free?
You can try it free. Every new account receives 10 free credits, enough for one character sheet from a selfie (5 credits) plus one standard page (5 credits). The planning steps, page layout, lettering edits and exports are free. After that you pay per drawing step from a credit balance, with no subscription required.
The Lite pack is 300 credits for $19.50 one-time, or $15 a month as a subscription. One-time credits never expire; subscription credits reset each cycle. Pages that fail to draw are refunded automatically, and the quote is shown before anything is charged.

Who uses an AI manga generator
The tool is used by people who have stories to tell and no time or training to draw every panel.
- Novelists and fan-fiction writers: adapt a chapter or a favourite scene into manga pages to share with readers.
- Webcomic creators: draft webtoon episodes quickly, then refine the panels that matter most.
- Gift makers: put a friend or partner in their own manga with a selfie and a one-line premise.
- Teachers and students: turn a history lesson or a book summary into a short illustrated story.
- Screenwriters and game designers: visualise a scene as a storyboard before production.
- Social media creators: post a manga page or a webtoon strip as a carousel or a share poster.
Tips for better AI manga
The story you paste is the script. Clear writing gives clear pages.
- Write in scenes with action and one short line of dialogue per beat. Long speeches will not fit a bubble.
- Describe each character the same way every time: hair, outfit, one distinctive detail.
- Upload a clear, front-facing photo for any character whose face must stay exact.
- Add up to three setting photos if the location matters, such as your street or school.
- Use exact lettering for non-Latin scripts, and edit lines after drawing instead of redrawing.
- Start with one page on the Standard engine, check the characters, then draw the rest.
Limits to know
Each run draws up to 4 pages from a story of up to 1,500 words, with up to 4 characters. Longer stories need several runs, so plan chapters as separate stories that reuse the same character descriptions or photos. Character consistency is strong with reference sheets but not perfect; small details such as accessories can drift, and a redraw usually fixes it.
There is no free-form panel editor for moving or resizing frames; layouts come from the built-in templates. Stories and images must follow the content policy, and you should only upload photos of people who have agreed to appear.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI turn a story into a manga?
Yes. Paste up to 1,500 words and the VdoBloom manga generator splits the story into panels with dialogue, designs the characters, draws up to 4 complete pages in manga or comic layout, and letters the speech bubbles. You can also generate a webtoon strip or loose panels from the same story.
Is there a free AI manga generator?
You can try this one free. New accounts get 10 free credits, enough for a one-page manga starring you (5 credits for the selfie character sheet plus 5 for the page). Story planning, layout, text edits and PDF or CBZ export are always free; drawing steps are paid with credits after that.
How do I make a manga of myself?
Choose Star in it, upload a clear selfie, type your name and write a one-line premise such as “I find a dragon egg in my school locker”. The AI writes a short story around you and uses your photo as the character reference, so your face appears on every page. Two heroes can share one story.
How does the AI keep characters consistent across panels?
Before drawing any page, it creates a character sheet for each character (from your description or your photo). Every page is then drawn with those sheets as references, which keeps faces, hair and outfits steady. Small details can still drift; redrawing a single page costs 5 credits on the Standard engine.
Can the AI write the speech bubbles correctly?
Yes, with exact lettering. The AI draws empty bubbles and the dialogue is set into them with real fonts, so spelling is exact, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Arabic scripts. You can edit any line afterwards for free without redrawing the page.
Does it read right-to-left like real manga?
Manga pages are laid out to read right-to-left, as in Japanese manga. Choose the comic style for left-to-right Western reading order, or Webtoon for a vertical strip.
Can I make a webtoon with AI?
Yes. Pick the Webtoon format and each beat becomes a full-bleed 9:16 panel, stacked into one vertical strip. Each webtoon panel costs 3 credits, and you can download the strip as slices in a ZIP for uploading.
What art styles are available?
Nine: Classic manga, Shōjo and Noir in black and white, plus Webtoon, American comic, 90s American comic, Franco-Belgian, Hand-painted anime and Chibi in full colour.
How do I export my manga?
Finished pages can be downloaded as a PDF, as a CBZ file for comic reader apps, or as a single share poster image. Webtoons can also be exported as a ZIP of slices. Exports are free.
Do I need drawing skills to use the manga generator?
No. The whole process is text-driven: you write the story and the AI handles character design, anatomy, panel layout, inking and lettering. Artists also use it to try out compositions before drawing pages by hand.
