It is worth being clear about what upscaling is. The model does not retrieve detail that the original file never captured — it infers plausible detail and paints it in. That works remarkably well on soft edges, compressed JPEGs and small web images, and it works less well on heavily blurred or motion-smeared shots, where the model has to invent more than it reconstructs. Upscale after generating and editing, not before: it is the last step, not the first.

How it works

  1. 1.Upload the image

    Open the Upscaler tab and click to upload. One image per run — pick the specific file you need at full size rather than batching.

  2. 2.Choose Pro or Fast

    Riverflow 2.0 Pro if you want 4K or the best quality at 2K. Riverflow 2.0 Fast if 2K is enough and you want the result sooner.

  3. 3.Set the target resolution

    2K (High) or 4K (Ultra). The 4K option only appears when Riverflow 2.0 Pro is selected.

  4. 4.Upscale and download

    The result opens full-size so you can compare detail against the original before downloading. Do this as the final step in your workflow, after any generating or editing.

Frequently asked questions

How large can I upscale an image?

To a 2K or 4K target. Riverflow 2.0 Pro supports both; Riverflow 2.0 Fast supports 2K. 4K is the ceiling in the upscaler tab today.

What is the difference between Riverflow 2.0 Pro and Fast?

Pro reaches 4K and is the higher-quality option; Fast stops at 2K and returns results sooner. If the image is going to print or a large display, use Pro at 4K. If it is going to a web page or a listing, Fast at 2K is usually plenty.

Will it fix a blurry face?

Often, partly. Face enhancement runs as part of the upscale, so soft or slightly out-of-focus faces gain definition. Severe motion blur is a different problem — the model has to invent the missing structure there, and the result may not look like the same person. Judge each result against the original before using it.

Does it work on old scanned or printed photos?

Yes, and it is one of the better uses for it: scans of old prints are usually soft rather than destroyed, which is exactly the case an upscaler handles well. Scan at the highest resolution your scanner offers first — a better source always beats a better upscale.

Should I upscale before or after editing?

After. Generate, edit and pick your final image first, then upscale that one file. Upscaling early wastes the work and forces every later model to process an unnecessarily large input.

Can I upscale AI-generated images before printing them?

Yes — that is the common workflow. Generate at your model's native resolution, choose the frame you want, then send it through Riverflow 2.0 Pro at 4K for print or large-format display.
