ByteDance Seedance 2.5 online, without an API key

Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance's long-clip video model, and the usual way to reach it is through an API — either ByteDance's own or an aggregator such as KIE, both of which mean provisioning a key, holding a balance with the provider and writing code against a task-polling endpoint. VdoBloom runs the model on your behalf, so a browser and an account are the whole requirement. There is no key to obtain, no endpoint to poll and nothing to install.

Inside the app it shows up in three places, and which one you want depends on what you are starting from. Text to Video is the prompt route: write the brief, pick Seedance 2.5 from the model list, generate. Image to Video is the photo route: upload an image and the model animates it. Seedance Effects is the preset route: choose a curated effect, upload the photos it asks for, and the effect supplies the prompt so you do not have to write one. The model, the 4-to-30-second range, the 480p/720p ceiling and the credit rate are identical in all three.

One thing to be straight about before you sign up: a new account gets 10 free credits, and that is not enough to run this model. The cheapest possible Seedance 2.5 render is 37 credits, for 4 seconds at 480p. So the free credits will let you look around the app and try cheaper models, but they will not produce a Seedance 2.5 clip. Anyone telling you there is a free Seedance 2.5 trial is describing something that does not exist here.

What this tool does

  • Running Seedance 2.5 on VdoBloom requires no ByteDance API key and no KIE API key — the platform holds the provider relationship, and you generate from the browser with an account.
  • Seedance 2.5 is selectable in three tabs: Text to Video, Image to Video and Seedance Effects. Same model, same duration range, same credit rate in each.

  • Resolution is 480p or 720p only. Seedance 2.5 has no 1080p or 4K option; within the same family that is Seedance 2's territory.
  • Per-generation overrides are available in every tab for the model, duration, resolution, aspect ratio and the audio switch, which is sent as on.
  • When your photo goes in as the job's first frame — the default in the Image to Video tab — the aspect ratio is forced to adaptive and the output follows the source photo's proportions, so the crop of your upload determines whether the result is vertical or wide. Photos sent as reference images, which is what the Seedance Effects tab does, do not trigger that.

How it works

  1. 1.Create an account and skip the API setup

    Sign up with an email or Google account. You do not register with ByteDance, you do not create a KIE key, and you do not fund a separate provider balance — VdoBloom holds that relationship. New accounts start with 10 free credits, enough to explore the interface but not enough for a Seedance 2.5 render.

  2. 2.Open the tab that matches your input

    Go to Video Creation and choose Text to Video if you are starting from a written idea, Image to Video if you are starting from a photo, or Seedance Effects if you want a curated preset applied for you. Seedance 2.5 is in the model list in all three, so none of them is a dead end.

  3. 3.Select Seedance 2.5 — no tab opens on it

    Text to Video opens on Runway Gen-3 and Seedance Effects opens on Seedance 2, so pick 2.5 from the Seedance group deliberately. Selecting it expands the duration grid to every second from 4 to 30 and narrows the resolution list to 480p and 720p. Audio is on and costs nothing extra.

  4. 4.Write the prompt, or let an effect write it

    In Text to Video and Image to Video the prompt box is yours and 2.5 accepts up to 30,000 characters — describe the shot in beats if you are buying a long duration, because a one-line prompt over 30 seconds tends to idle. On Seedance Effects there is no prompt box: each effect states how many photos it needs and supplies its own prompt. If you are uploading a photo in Image to Video, crop it to the shape you want the video to be first, because that path inherits its aspect ratio from the upload.

  5. 5.Work out the cost before you press generate

    Multiply your chosen seconds by 9.2 for 480p or by 20 for 720p. Ten seconds at 480p is 92 credits; the same at 720p is 200. Since the model tops out at 720p, treat 480p as the draft pass — check the shot reads correctly there before spending the 720p rate on the take you keep.

  6. 6.Top up if you are past the free credits

    Because 10 signup credits will not fund even the 37-credit minimum, a Seedance 2.5 render means buying credits or taking a plan. Those credits are not model-locked: the same balance covers 54 video model variants across 14 families and the image, voice and editing tools, so nothing is stranded if you later use a different model.

Can I control whether the video comes out vertical or wide?

It depends on the route. In Text to Video, with no image attached, the aspect ratio you pick is the one used — 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 9:16 or 21:9. In Image to Video your photo goes in as the first frame by default, and Seedance 2.5 coerces those jobs to adaptive, so the output follows the photo's proportions: crop to 9:16 before uploading for a vertical clip, or to 16:9 for a wide one. On the Seedance Effects tab photos travel as reference images, so the ratio control works there too.
