AI Birthday Video Maker: Turn Photos Into a Birthday Message
The ai birthday video maker guide: turn one photo into a 9:16 birthday invite with your own text burned on, from 7 credits. Steps, prompts and costs.
You turn one photo into a birthday invitation video by picking a style, filling in the name, age, date, venue and a short message, and generating a 9:16 clip that runs on the Seedance 2 family. VdoBloom burns your text on afterwards, server-side and free, in any language, so the name and date are always correct — the AI only builds the scene. A 4-second 480p invite on Seedance 2 Mini is 7 credits, a 720p version of the same clip is 14, and the exact cost is quoted before you generate.

What the birthday invite actually makes
The output is a vertical 9:16 video, which is the shape WhatsApp status, Instagram Reels and Stories all want. The video itself is a short cinematic scene built around the person in your photo: balloons and confetti, warm light, a cake, a slow orbit and a final wave to camera. Your name, age, date, venue and message are then added as an elegant title over the end of the clip. On the default timed-shot model the scene is assembled from eight beats: a wide establishing shot, a medium shot, a close-up, a slow orbit, a detail shot of the candles, a low-angle shot, a tracking shot, and a final frontal shot with a slow pull-out.
That division of labour is the important part. The AI never has to spell anything, which is where generated cards usually fail. You supply the words; it supplies the picture.
Step by step
- Upload a photo. It is required, and it can be a solo portrait, a family picture or any clear photo of the birthday person. A front-facing shot where the face is clearly visible gives the model the most to work with. Upload your own photo, or one from someone who has agreed to be in the invite, and keep the clip tasteful.
- Pick a style. Seven presets ship with the tab: Birthday, Kids Birthday, Princess / Prince Theme, Teen Vibrant, Elegant Adult, Milestone (50 / 60 / 70+) and Bollywood Style. The default is Elegant Adult, which is the neutral adult look; Kids is one tap away.
- Type the birthday person’s name. Required, up to 40 characters. This is the line most people get wrong by adding decoration — keep it to the name.
- Add the age. Optional, up to 12 characters, and it is free text rather than a number, so “10th”, “30th” or “60th” all work. Leave it blank if you would rather not say.
- Add the party date. Up to 60 characters. Write it the way you would say it — for example, “Saturday, 14th December 2026, 7 PM”.
- Add the venue. Up to 90 characters, for example “The Oberoi, Bangalore”. Skip it if the party is at home and you do not want an address on screen.
- Write the custom message. Up to 120 characters, for example “Join us for cake, laughter, and memories”. This is the line that makes the invite feel written rather than generated, so use it.
- Choose the model, length and resolution, then generate. The invite runs on the Seedance 2 family, so you can trade cost against quality: Seedance 2 Mini for a cheap fast invite, Seedance 2 or Seedance 2 Fast for a cleaner picture, Seedance 2.5 if you want a longer clip. Shortest runs are about 4 seconds; Mini, 2 and Fast go to 15 seconds and 2.5 reaches 30. Expect the generation to take a couple of minutes, and you can leave the page — the video is saved to your creations when it is ready.
- Download and send. You get a 9:16 MP4 with the text already on it, ready for a WhatsApp status, a group chat or a Reels post.
The seven styles, and when each one lands
- Birthday — the general-purpose adult option, balloons and warm light without a strong theme.
- Kids Birthday — brighter, more playful, built for a child’s party.
- Princess / Prince Theme — a storybook setting for a young child, with the costume-and-castle look that a themed party implies.
- Teen Vibrant — higher energy and stronger colour, aimed at a teenage birthday.
- Elegant Adult — the default. Softer light, restrained styling, right for a milestone dinner or a formal celebration.
- Milestone (50 / 60 / 70+) — built for the numbers that get a speech, with a more formal, celebratory treatment.
- Bollywood Style — the cinematic song-and-dance look, which works particularly well for Hindi-language invitations and for a party with a Bollywood theme.
Prompt and message examples
The scene prompt is driven by the style, so the writing you actually control is the burned-on text. Keep these short and concrete:
- Message: “Join us for cake, laughter, and memories” — warm, generic, safe for any guest list.
- Message: “Dress code: festive. Dinner at 8. Bring your dancing shoes” — practical details beat poetry on an invitation.
- Message: “Sixty years of you — come and raise a glass” — the milestone register, which reads well with the milestone style.
- Message: “A little party never killed nobody. See you Saturday!” — a lighter line for a teen or a friends’ party.
- Date: “Saturday, 14th December 2026, 7 PM” and Venue: “The Oberoi, Bangalore” — one line each, no abbreviations, so the rendered text stays legible.
If the invitation needs to be in another language, type the text in that language. The overlay is rendered separately from the video, so it is not limited to English, and the scene itself is language-neutral. For a photo-led greeting in the same spirit, the workflow in the personalised video from a photo guide carries over almost unchanged.
Common mistakes
- Uploading a group photo and hoping the right person is animated. Upload the person the invitation is for. If the photo includes other people, the model has to choose, and it does not always choose well.
- Writing an essay in the message field. The cap is 120 characters for a reason: this is a title card, not a letter. Long text becomes small text.
- Putting the age and the date in the same field. There are separate fields for age, date and venue. Using one field for all three produces one dense line that is harder to read at phone size.
- Leaving the custom message blank. The invite is then just a template. The message is what makes it yours at no extra cost.
- Choosing 1080p for a WhatsApp status. Status and Reels recompress heavily. A 480p or 720p clip at a shorter length is cheaper and looks much the same after compression.
- Forgetting consent. Use a photo of yourself, or of someone who has agreed to be in the invite. An invitation is still an image of a real person.
Which model to pick
- Seedance 2 Mini — the cheap default. The pricing table has 480p at 7 credits for 4 seconds, 8 credits for 5 and 13 for 8, and 720p at 14, 17 and 27 credits for the same lengths. Mini also has the lowest image-to-video rates in the catalogue, which matters when the clip is driven by a photo.
- Seedance 2 Fast — the middle option when the face needs to hold up better; 720p runs 50 credits for 5 seconds, 80 for 8 and 100 for 10.
- Seedance 2 — the quality tier, with 1080p available. A 1080p 4-second clip is 164 credits, rising steeply with length.
- Seedance 2.5 — the longest option, up to 30 seconds, priced per second by resolution.
The full model page for the cheap tier is at Seedance 2 Mini. A failed generation is refunded automatically, so a retry after a failure does not cost you twice.
What it costs and how to pay
Credits cover everything, including the text overlay, which is free. A new account starts with 10 free credits and no card — enough to test a 4-second 480p invite. The Lite plan is $15 a month for 300 credits, which is $0.05 a credit, or $10 a month billed yearly. One-time credit packs start at $10.39 for 200 credits and never expire, and India plans start at ₹199 a month. Every generation shows its cost before it runs. See the pricing page, and the commercial use guide if the invite is going out from a business account.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a birthday video with AI from a photo?
Upload one clear photo of the birthday person, pick one of the seven styles, fill in the name, and optionally the age, date, venue and a short message. Generate the 9:16 clip and VdoBloom burns your text on afterwards. A 4-second 480p invite on Seedance 2 Mini is 7 credits.
Is the text added by AI, or typed by me?
Typed by you, and rendered separately from the video. That is why the name and date come out correct: the model builds the scene, and the overlay is drawn server-side. The overlay is free and works in any language.
How long is the birthday invitation video?
From about 4 seconds on the cheapest settings. Seedance 2 Mini, Seedance 2 and Seedance 2 Fast all run to 15 seconds, and Seedance 2.5 extends to 30. Most invites work well at 4 to 8 seconds, because the text sits over the end of the clip.
Can I use a photo that has more than one person in it?
Yes, the upload accepts solo portraits, family photos and group pictures, but upload the shot where the birthday person is clearly the subject. When several faces compete, the model has to decide which one to animate, and a clear, front-facing single subject is the reliable choice.
Does the tool work for invitations in Hindi or another language?
Yes. The name, age, date, venue and message are typed by you and rendered as an overlay, so any language the platform can display works. The scene prompt itself is language-neutral, so nothing is lost by writing the invitation in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali or another script.
