AI Explainer Video Maker: From Script to Finished Video

How to use an AI explainer video maker: build a presenter once, write a script that reads well aloud, and see real credit costs and limits.

By VdoBloom Team

VdoBloom’s Brand Spokesperson tool makes an explainer video in two steps: you design a presenter once, then feed it a script and get a talking video back. The presenter is built from gender, age, ethnicity, style and accent, saved to the browser, and reused for every future video so your series looks consistent. Each generation is quoted in credits before it runs, and new accounts start with 10 free credits and no card.

What the Brand Spokesperson tool does

An explainer video has two jobs: explaining something, and looking like it came from a real organisation. Most AI video tools solve the first and fail the second, because every clip has a different face and the series never builds recognition.

This tool is built the other way round. Step one creates a presenter image from your description — gender, age, ethnicity, style, accent and free-text details — using the gpt-image-2 text-to-image model at a 3:4 ratio. Step two takes a script and generates a talking video of that presenter delivering it, defaulting to the bytedance/seedance-2 video model with audio on and a 9:16 frame.

The presenter is stored in your browser under a saved brand persona, which is the whole point: the face you make today is the face you can use in the video you publish in March.

Step 1: build the presenter

  1. Open the spokesperson tool and start on the presenter step, before the script step.
  2. Choose a gender from four options: Young Woman, Young Man, Middle-aged Woman or Middle-aged Man.
  3. Choose an age band — 20s, 30s, 40s or 50s. This is a decade, not a year, and it changes how the audience reads authority.
  4. Set the ethnicity if it matters for your audience or market. It often does, and it is far easier to decide now than to rebuild the persona later.
  5. Pick a style from Professional, Casual, Medical or Fitness. These map to wardrobe and setting as much as to tone.
  6. Add accent or extra detail in the free-text field. This is where you say “warm, unrushed, mid-Atlantic” rather than leaving it to chance.
  7. Generate the presenter image. Regenerate until the face reads as a colleague rather than a stock model — you are going to live with this face.

Step 2: write a script that survives being read aloud

Spoken scripts are not written prose with the commas removed. A sentence that works on a page can be unreadable out loud, because the listener cannot go back a line. The fix is mechanical: shorter sentences, one idea each, and the main benefit inside the first two lines.

A structure that works for almost any explainer:

  1. Hook — the specific problem your viewer already has, in one sentence.
  2. Promise — what they will be able to do by the end of the video, in one sentence.
  3. Three points — the body, each one a short paragraph with a concrete example or number.
  4. Objection — the obvious “but what about...” answered in two sentences.
  5. Call to action — one instruction, repeated once at the end.

Then read the whole thing out loud with a timer. If you stumble, the presenter will too.

Script and prompt examples

  • SaaS onboarding: “Setting up your first workspace takes about four minutes. Pick a name, invite two colleagues, and connect the calendar you already use. That is the whole setup — everything else is optional.”
  • Financial product basics (review before publishing): “A 529 plan is a savings account designed for education costs. You put money in, it grows, and withdrawals for qualified education expenses are not taxed. Contribution limits and rules vary by state, so confirm the details for your state before you act.”
  • Clinic service explanation (review before publishing): “A first physiotherapy visit is mostly assessment. We ask what hurts, how it started and what you have already tried, then we test movement and agree on a plan. You leave with exercises, not just a diagnosis.”
  • Ecommerce sizing: “Our fit runs one size generous at the shoulders. If you are between sizes, take the smaller one. The returns window is thirty days and the return label is in the box.”
  • Internal training: “Three things change on Monday. Timesheets move to the new system, approvals now need two signatures, and expenses over five hundred dollars route to your director. Here is where each one lives.”

Common mistakes

  • Writing an essay. A two-minute video holds roughly 260 to 300 spoken words. If your script is 900 words, you have a four-minute video and a bored audience.
  • Designing the presenter after the script. The face sets the register. A 50s professional presenter delivering a meme-heavy script reads as a mismatch no amount of editing fixes.
  • Changing the presenter between videos. The whole advantage of a saved persona is recognition. Consistency is worth more than a marginally better face.
  • Putting the benefit at the end. Viewers leave in the first few seconds. Lead with the payoff.
  • Ignoring the tone setting. Confident, Friendly, Expert, Energetic and Calm are five different videos from the same script; pick one deliberately.
  • Forgetting a call to action. An explainer that ends without an instruction is a nice video, not a working one.

How long, and which model to pick

The spokesperson tool defaults to Seedance 2, so that is the honest baseline. If you are choosing between VdoBloom’s video models for the clips around your presenter, the published facts are these: Seedance 2 runs 4 to 15 seconds at 480p through 4K with audio on by default, and it is the only model in the Seedance 2 family that reaches 4K. Kling 3.0 runs 3 to 15 seconds with standard, pro and 4K modes but generates video only, with no audio. Wan 3.0 Video runs 2 to 30 seconds up to 1080p with native audio, which makes it the natural pick when a single take has to be longer.

For explainers specifically, shorter clips are easier to control. Two 8-second clips that each land one idea usually beat one 15-second clip where the presenter drifts halfway through.

What it costs

Cost is quoted before every generation, and it combines the presenter image with the video generation, so you see the total before committing. Every new account starts with 10 free credits and no card. Paid plans start at Lite, $15 per month for 300 credits, or $10 per month when billed yearly, and one-time credit packs start at $10.39 for 200 credits that never expire. Paid output is watermark-free and comes with commercial rights.

If you are replacing a talking-head shoot rather than a designer, the other useful comparison is AI presenter video for online courses, which is aimed at a different job: long-form lesson delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI explainer video maker?

It is a tool that turns a written script into a presenter-led video without a camera, a studio or an actor. On VdoBloom you build the presenter from a description first, save it as a brand persona, and then generate as many videos as you need with the same face.

How long should an explainer video be?

For most products and services, 60 to 90 seconds is the working range, which is roughly 130 to 220 spoken words. Training and onboarding can run longer because the viewer has a reason to stay. If your script is running long, cut a point rather than speeding up the read.

Can I use the same presenter in every video?

Yes, and you should. The persona is saved in your browser and can be reused across generations. Keeping one face across a series is what turns a set of clips into a recognisable channel.

Do I need to be on camera or record audio?

No. You supply the script as text and the tool generates the video with audio. That is the point of the workflow — it removes the recording step entirely, which is usually the step that stops people publishing a second video.

Can I use the video commercially?

Paid VdoBloom output is watermark-free and comes with commercial rights. Free output is watermarked. If your script makes claims about a regulated product or a health outcome, have the practice or firm’s compliance owner review it before publishing — that part is on you, not the tool.

Start with one script: open Brand Spokesperson, design a face you would hire, and generate a 60-second version of your best explanation. If consistency across a series is the hard part, keeping characters consistent covers the mechanics, and AI talking avatar explains the wider category. Plans are compared on pricing.
