WAN vs Seedance: which model family should you actually pick?

WAN and Seedance are the two largest model families on VdoBloom. The Wan AI picker holds 9 variants and the Seedance picker holds 7, out of 54 video model variants across 14 families. They are not interchangeable, and the deciding factor is almost never "quality" — it is what each family physically supports.

The short version: pick WAN when you need to transform footage you already have, when you want a first-and-last-frame handle, or when reference images drive the shot. Pick Seedance when you need 4K, a clip longer than 15 seconds, or the lower credits-per-second of the two families.

One structural detail that trips people up: Seedance 2, Seedance 2 Fast, Seedance 2 Mini and Seedance 2.5 are locked to the Seedance Effects tab. The Seedance variants you will find on the standard text-to-video and image-to-video tabs are Seedance 1.5 Pro, V1 Lite I2V and V1 Pro Fast I2V.

What this tool does

  • WAN video generation on VdoBloom tops out at 1080p. Seedance 2 offers 480p, 720p, 1080p and 4K.
  • Seedance 2.5 generates up to 30 seconds in a single clip (480p or 720p, 4-30s). Every WAN video variant caps at 15 seconds.
  • Seedance 1.5 Pro is billed per second: 0.75 credits/sec at 480p, 1.5 at 720p, 3.0 at 1080p, doubled if you enable audio. Duration is 4-14 seconds.
  • WAN 2.7 Text-to-Video costs 32 credits for 5 seconds at 720p (6.4 credits/sec) and 143 credits for 15 seconds at 1080p.
  • WAN 2.6 Flash is image-to-video only, ships native audio by default, runs 2-15 seconds, and costs 20 credits for 5 seconds at 720p.
  • Only WAN can work on existing footage: WAN 2.2 Animate Replace (480p/580p/720p), WAN 2.6 Video-to-Video and WAN 2.7 Video Edit, the last two living in the AI Edit picker.
  • WAN 2.7 Image-to-Video accepts a first and last frame; WAN 2.7 Reference-to-Video takes reference images. Seedance has no reference-to-video variant on VdoBloom.
  • Seedance 2 at 4K costs 414 credits for 5 seconds and 827 credits for 10 seconds. The same 5 seconds at 720p costs 82 credits.
  • Seedance 2 Mini is on a promotional rate through 7 September 2026 — 3.3 credits/sec at 720p, reverting to 8.2 credits/sec afterwards.
  • Seedance 2, Seedance 2 Fast, Seedance 2 Mini and Seedance 2.5 only appear on the Seedance Effects tab; Seedance 1.5 Pro works on both text-to-video and image-to-video.

How it works

  1. 1.Start with your input, not the model name

    If your source is an existing video, WAN is the only one of the two families that can touch it — Animate Replace, 2.6 Video-to-Video or 2.7 Video Edit. If your source is a still image or a prompt, both families are live and you move to the next question.

  2. 2.Set your hard ceiling: resolution and length

    Need 4K? That is Seedance 2 only (4-15s). Need longer than 15 seconds? That is Seedance 2.5 only (up to 30s at 480p or 720p). If 1080p and 15 seconds cover you, WAN 2.7 and WAN 2.6 both reach that ceiling and give you more input modes.

  3. 3.Check whether you need audio or frame control

    WAN 2.6 Flash generates native audio by default on image-to-video. Seedance 1.5 Pro has an audio toggle that doubles its per-second rate. If you need the clip to land on a specific final frame, WAN 2.7 Image-to-Video is the one with first/last-frame input.

  4. 4.Do the credit math before you queue anything

    Seedance 1.5 Pro at 720p is 1.5 credits/sec, so 8 seconds costs 12 credits. WAN 2.7 at 720p is 6.4 credits/sec, so 10 seconds costs 64. Seedance 2 at 4K is 414 credits for 5 seconds. The gap between a draft and a hero shot is roughly 100x — treat them as different budgets.

  5. 5.Draft cheap, finish expensive

    Render the prompt on Seedance 1.5 Pro at 480p first — a 4-second test is 3 credits. Once the composition and motion look right, re-run the identical prompt on WAN 2.7 at 1080p or Seedance 2 at 4K.

Why can't I find Seedance 2 on the text-to-video tab?

Seedance 2, Seedance 2 Fast, Seedance 2 Mini and Seedance 2.5 are locked to the Seedance Effects tab in VdoBloom. On the standard text-to-video and image-to-video tabs the Seedance options are Seedance 1.5 Pro, ByteDance V1 Lite Image-to-Video and ByteDance V1 Pro Fast Image-to-Video.

Which WAN version should I use — 2.5, 2.6 or 2.7?

WAN 2.7 Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video run 5, 10 or 15 seconds at 720p or 1080p and cost 32 credits for 5 seconds at 720p, which undercuts WAN 2.6 at 35 credits for the same settings. WAN 2.6 Flash is the value pick for image-to-video with audio at 20 credits for 5 seconds at 720p, and it accepts 2-15 second durations. WAN 2.5 Image-to-Video is the most expensive of the three at 65 credits for 5 seconds at 720p.

Do either family support 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio?

Seedance does. Seedance 2 and Seedance 1.5 Pro both offer 21:9 in their aspect-ratio options. WAN 2.7 Text-to-Video offers 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3 and 3:4, and the WAN image-to-video variants take their aspect ratio from the uploaded image rather than a selector.

Can I use both in one project?

Yes, and it is often the right approach. A common flow is generating the base shot with Seedance 1.5 Pro at a low resolution to iterate cheaply, then re-rendering the winning prompt on WAN 2.7 at 1080p, or passing an existing clip through WAN 2.7 Video Edit for the finishing pass.
