AI Short Drama With Lip-Sync in 8 Languages
Make an AI short drama where characters speak Spanish, Korean, Japanese and 5 more languages with native lip-sync. How the language lock works and how to write lines.
An AI short drama with lip-sync means the characters say their lines out loud, in your chosen language, and their mouths move with the words. The AI Drama Series Generator on VdoBloom supports 8 spoken languages on its Seedance models: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Mandarin). You pick the language once, and the prompt locks it so lines are never translated. Keep each line to 8 words or fewer and the sync stays clean.

Most pages about AI drama tools talk about visuals: faces, styles, camera moves. They rarely say what language the characters speak, or whether they speak at all. For a short drama, that matters a lot. A romance or revenge story lives on its dialogue. This guide explains how spoken dialogue works in our drama tool, why we offer these 8 languages and no others, and how to write lines that sync well.
Subtitles vs spoken dialogue with lip-sync
There are two ways to put words into an AI video.
- Subtitles only. The video is silent or has music, and the words appear on screen as text. The characters may move their mouths, but not to any real words. This is easy to make, but it feels like a silent film.
- Spoken dialogue with lip-sync. The video model generates the voice and the mouth movement together. When a character says "You lied to me," you hear it, and the lips match it.
The drama generator does the second. Dialogue is written into the season plan, and the video model speaks it with native lip-sync in the episode itself. You do not record audio or sync anything by hand.
You can still add text on top. Word-by-word captions are an optional extra, and title cards are on by default. Captions help viewers who watch with the sound off, which is common on phones. But the captions sit on top of real speech. They do not replace it.
The 8 supported spoken languages
When you set up a series, you choose one spoken language for the whole season. On the Seedance models the options are:
| Language | Typical use |
|---|---|
| English | Global audiences, most short-drama apps |
| Spanish | Spain and Latin America |
| Portuguese | Brazil and Portugal |
| French | France, Canada, parts of Africa |
| German | Germany, Austria, Switzerland |
| Japanese | Japan, anime-style stories |
| Korean | Korea, K-drama style romance |
| Chinese (Mandarin) | Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore |
Why only these 8?
The voice comes from the video model, not from a separate dubbing step. The Seedance models voice these 8 languages best, so these are the ones we offer. We would rather list fewer languages that sound right than a long list where some sound wrong.
To be clear: other languages, such as Hindi, Arabic or Italian, are not offered for spoken dialogue in the drama tool today. If your audience speaks one of those, you can still write the story in a supported language and add your own captions. But we will not promise lip-sync in a language the model does not voice well.
What about Wan 2.7?
The language list above is for the Seedance models (Seedance 2, Seedance 2 Fast, Seedance 2 Mini and Seedance 2.5). Wan 2.7 is also available for 10-second episodes, but it makes its own voices, so it does not use the voices you design for your characters. If spoken language and voice matter most to you, use a Seedance model.
How the language lock works
A common problem with AI video is drift. You write a line in Spanish, and the model "helps" by saying it in English. Or one character speaks Korean and the next answers in English.
The drama generator avoids this with a language lock. When you choose a spoken language, the prompt for every episode states it and tells the model to speak the lines exactly as written. Lines are never translated. If your season is in Japanese, the dialogue in the plan is in Japanese, and the characters say it in Japanese.
This also means you should write or edit the dialogue in the language you picked. If you type an English line into a Korean season, the lock does not turn it into Korean for you. Keep the plan and the language setting the same.
Writing short dialogue that syncs
The AI writes the season plan for you, and it is free. That plan includes shot-by-shot actions and dialogue. Two rules shape the dialogue:
- Max 8 words per line. Short lines fit inside a shot and give the model time to move the mouth clearly.
- About half the shots speak. The other shots carry looks, reactions and action. Silence is part of drama.
You can edit everything in the plan. When you do, keep to the same rules. Here are some tips.
Cut long lines in two
"I knew you were lying the whole time, and I said nothing" is too long. Split it: "I knew you were lying." Then a reaction shot. Then: "And I said nothing." Two short lines hit harder than one long one, and each one syncs.
One speaker per line
Give each line to one named character. Do not put two people's words in one line. The model needs to know whose mouth moves.
Use plain words
Short, common words are easier to voice in any language. Avoid long brand names, made-up words and tongue twisters unless the story needs them.
Let reactions do the work
A slap, a door closing or a long stare often says more than a line. Since only about half the shots speak, use the others for reactions. They also make the speaking shots stand out.
Watch word count in each language
The same sentence can be longer in one language than another. A short English line can grow when written in German or French. Count words in the language you are using, and trim if needed.
Making the same story in another language
Say your English romance did well and you want a Spanish or Korean version. Here is a simple way to do it.
- Start a new series with the same premise, genre, format, visual style and aspect ratio.
- Pick the new spoken language, for example Spanish.
- Reuse your cast. Upload the same character photos, or use the same face, hair and outfit text. Your own photo as a reference is free. A generated character sheet costs 5 credits.
- Set up voices. Each character can have a voice from a description or a short recording. See our guide to giving every AI character its own voice.
- Check the plan. The new plan should be written in Spanish. Read the dialogue, keep lines under 8 words, and edit anything that sounds stiff.
- Make the episodes. Each one starts with a 5-credit storyboard you can review before you pay for video.
The two seasons are separate series, so the Spanish one has its own plan, storyboards and episodes. That is a good thing: a line that works in English often needs a different shape in Spanish, and you can fix it in the plan.
What it costs
Each episode has a 5-credit storyboard, then the video. Spoken dialogue does not add a separate fee. A few examples, per episode:
| Model | Resolution | 10 s | 15 s |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2 Mini | 720p | 33 | 50 |
| Seedance 2 Fast | 720p | 100 | 150 |
| Seedance 2 | 720p | 163 | 244 |
| Seedance 2.5 | 720p | 252 | 378 |
A worked example: 5 episodes on Seedance 2 Mini at 720p, 15 seconds each, is 5 x (5 + 50) = 275 credits. Add 2 character sheets and 1 location image (15 credits) and the season is 290 credits. Credits never expire, there is no subscription, and new accounts get 10 free credits. If a step fails, its credits come back automatically.

FAQ
Which languages can AI drama characters speak on VdoBloom?
On the Seedance models: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Mandarin). Dialogue is spoken with native lip-sync.
Can I make an AI short drama in Hindi or Arabic?
Not with spoken lip-sync today. We only offer the 8 languages the video model voices best. You can make the series in a supported language and add your own captions.
Will the AI translate my lines into English?
No. The prompt locks the spoken language, so lines are spoken as written and never translated. Write the dialogue in the language you picked.
How long should each line of dialogue be?
8 words or fewer. The season plan follows this rule, and about half the shots have dialogue. Keep to it when you edit.
Do I need subtitles if the characters speak?
No, but they help viewers who watch with the sound off. Word-by-word captions are optional, and title cards are on by default.
Can one season mix two languages?
A season uses one spoken language. To reach a second audience, make a separate series with the same premise and cast in the other language.
