Best AI Talking Photo App: Make Any Picture Speak
Make a photo talk in your browser: type any text or upload audio, pick a voice, get a lip-synced video. Works on pets and mascots. Priced per second.
The simplest way to make a photo talk is a browser tool, not an app: upload a portrait, add a voice, and an AI lip-syncs the face to it. On VdoBloom's AI Talking Avatar, 10 seconds of speech costs 15 credits on Infinitalk at 480p, 32 on Kling Avatar Standard or 56 on OmniHuman 2.0. To make a picture speak typed text, create the voice in Text to Speech (8 credits per 1,000 characters) or use AI Presenter, which does script, voice and video in one job. New accounts get 10 free credits, enough for a short test. Free results carry a watermark.

How does a talking photo work?
A talking photo model takes two things: a still image with a face, and a sound file. It then draws a video in which the mouth, jaw, eyes and head move in time with the speech. The photo stays the "actor"; the audio decides what is said and how long the clip runs. That is why the price is per second of audio, not per video.
Plain image to video models can move a photo, but they do not match lips to a script. For speech you want a lip-sync model.
How do I make a picture speak any text?
There are two routes.
- Two steps, full model choice. Type your script in Text to Speech, pick one of 26 MiniMax Speech 2.8 voices, and download the audio. It costs 8 credits per started block of 1,000 characters, roughly a minute of speech. Then open AI Talking Avatar, upload the photo and the audio, and pick a lip-sync model.
- One step. AI Presenter takes the typed script, makes the voice-over and animates the photo in a single job. A 30-second clip on the Standard 720p model is about 101 credits, voice included.
Want a voice that is not on the list? AI Voice Design creates a new voice from a written description, such as "warm older man, slow and calm".
Which lip-sync model should I choose?
Prices below are from VdoBloom's credit table for the given audio length.
| Model | Output | Max audio | 10 s | 30 s | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Infinitalk 480p | 480p | 120 s | 15 | 36 | Cheap drafts and social clips |
| Infinitalk 720p | 720p | 120 s | 48 | 144 | Sharper budget clips |
| Kling Avatar Standard | 720p | 5 min | 32 | 96 | Long voice-overs |
| Kling Avatar Pro | 1080p | 5 min | 64 | 191 | 1080p presenters |
| OmniHuman 2.0 | Talking avatar | 5 min (min 4 s) | 56 | 168 | Expressive full-head motion |
| OmniHuman 1.5 | Talking avatar | 60 s | 108 | 324 | Short hero clips |
A good habit: test the photo and voice on Infinitalk at 480p first. If the lip-sync and expression look right, render the final on Kling Avatar or OmniHuman 2.0. More detail is in our lip-sync model guide and the voice and lip-sync guide.
Can I make a talking photo of my pet?
Yes, with realistic expectations. The models look for a face with a visible mouth, so they work best on human faces, but illustrated characters, mascots and many animal photos also animate. Pets give more varied results, so test cheaply before you commit. These tips help:
- Face the camera. A head-on photo works far better than a profile.
- Show the mouth. Pick a photo where the muzzle and mouth area are clear and not hidden by a toy or a paw.
- Keep it short. A 5 to 10 second line ("Where is my dinner?") reads funnier and costs less than a speech.
- Pick a voice to match. A deep slow voice on a big dog or a squeaky one on a kitten does a lot of the work. AI Voice Design can make one to order.
- Test on Infinitalk at 480p. 15 credits covers up to about 12 seconds, so you can see whether your pet's face tracks before paying for a sharper model.
Prefer a painted portrait of your pet instead? The AI Pet Portrait tool turns the photo into artwork, which you can then make talk.
Is there a free talking photo AI online?
Partly. Every new VdoBloom account gets 10 free credits, which is about a 3-second test on Kling Avatar Standard. Infinitalk has a 15-credit minimum per clip, and OmniHuman 2.0 needs at least 4 seconds of audio, so both need a top-up. Free-tier videos carry a watermark. For clean downloads you need a paid plan or a credit pack; one-time pack credits never expire and there is no subscription to cancel.
Many sites that say "free" limit length, add a watermark or ask for a subscription after a trial. Check those three things before you upload anything.
What photo works best?
- One face, front-facing, sharp and evenly lit.
- The face should fill a good part of the frame; tiny faces in group shots lip-sync poorly.
- Avoid sunglasses, hands over the mouth and heavy shadows.
- Match the photo shape to where it will be posted: vertical for Reels and Status, wide for YouTube.
- Write a short delivery note in the prompt box, such as "speaks warmly and nods". The Kling models require one.
What talking photos are not for
Only use photos you have the right to use: yourself, people who agreed, your own pets, or characters you created. Do not make real people, including celebrities and public figures, say things they did not say. You confirm consent and that you are 18 or over when you upload a photo of a person. Uploads pass content moderation.
Step by step: your first talking photo
- Write a short script, 1 to 3 sentences.
- Turn it into audio in Text to Speech and download the file.
- Open AI Talking Avatar and upload the photo and the audio.
- Choose Infinitalk 480p for a test, add a one-line delivery note, and generate.
- If it looks right, render the final on Kling Avatar or OmniHuman 2.0 and download it from My Creations.
