Gemini Omni vs Seedance 2: Which Video Model to Run
Gemini Omni vs Seedance 2 compared on duration, resolution, aspect ratios, audio, input modes and real credit costs on VdoBloom.
Gemini Omni Image-to-Video and ByteDance Seedance 2 are two different answers to the same question. Gemini Omni is the shorter, higher-fidelity route: 4, 6, 8 or 10 seconds at up to 4K, framed only in 16:9 or 9:16, with STRICT filtering. Seedance 2 is the flexible one: 4 to 15 seconds in one-second steps, 480p through 4K, six aspect ratios including 21:9, audio included, and a MODERATE filter. Neither is better in the abstract — pick the one whose specs match your shot.

What each model is
Gemini Omni Image-to-Video is Google’s image-to-video model on VdoBloom. It takes a single starting image plus a text prompt describing the motion, keeps the composition you already approved, and extends it into a clip. It holds a 4.7 catalog rating.
Seedance 2 is the flagship of ByteDance’s Seedance 2 line and the only model in that family that reaches 4K. It generates from a text prompt or a starting image, and its distinguishing trait is range: duration, resolution and framing all go wider than Gemini Omni’s.

Duration: fixed steps versus a sliding scale
Gemini Omni gives you four lengths and nothing between them: 4, 6, 8 or 10 seconds. That suits a shot list already planned in even beats, and it makes each attempt easy to compare against the last. Seedance 2 runs 4 to 15 seconds in one-second steps, which lets you cut to an exact length — a 7-second insert rather than trimming a 10-second render. If your edit has an odd duration to hit, Seedance 2 is the natural fit; if you want long, clean, scene-sized clips and 10 seconds is enough, Gemini Omni covers it.
Resolution: two ceilings that read the same, then diverge
Both reach 4K, so the top end is not the deciding factor. The lower end is. Gemini Omni prices 720p and 1080p identically, so there is no cost reason to render below full HD — the only step that costs more is 4K. Seedance 2 adds a 480p tier as a genuine draft setting, cheap enough to iterate on before committing to a final. If your workflow is “explore cheaply, then export,” Seedance 2’s 480p rung is the one that saves real credits.
Aspect ratios: two formats or six
Gemini Omni outputs 16:9 or 9:16 only — the two shapes that cover most delivery. That is a limitation if a source image is square or 4:3, because the model will crop or pad it to fit. Seedance 2 offers six: 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 9:16 and 21:9. The 21:9 cinema-wide format in particular is one most video models do not offer at all. If you need an anamorphic-looking frame or a square cut, Seedance 2 is the only one of the pair that can produce it.
Audio
Seedance 2 generates audio by default and it does not change the credit price — the cost shown before you generate already accounts for it. Gemini Omni’s catalog entry does not list audio generation, so plan on adding sound downstream if the clip needs it. For a sound-dependent concept, that difference decides the tool before any other spec does.
Input modes
Gemini Omni is strictly image-to-video: one starting image plus a text prompt describing what changes. The prompt carries all the direction, so naming what should move and what should stay fixed produces the most predictable results. Seedance 2 accepts either a text prompt or a starting image, and at 480p, 720p and 1080p those two modes are priced identically — so animating a still costs the same as generating from text. Seedance 2 also has a reference-video mode: attach an actual video clip as a motion reference, and at 4K the per-second rate drops, though you are billed for the reference clip’s length plus your output, capped at 15 input seconds.
Credit cost per setting
Gemini Omni is priced by duration and quality tier. At 720p or 1080p: 36 credits for 4 seconds, 48 for 6, 60 for 8 and 72 for 10. At 4K the same durations cost 84, 96, 108 and 120. A quick 4-second test is 36 credits; a finished 10-second 4K delivery is 120.
Seedance 2 is priced per second. Without a reference video the rates run roughly 7.75 credits/second at 480p, 16.5 at 720p, 40.8 at 1080p and 83.2 at 4K. Worked examples: a 4-second 480p draft is 31 credits, a 5-second 720p clip is 82 credits, a 10-second 1080p clip is 408 credits, and a 15-second 4K hero shot is 1,248. Reference-video mode only changes the price at 4K (about 51 credits/second), so outside 4K there is no financial reason to use it over a plain starting image.
Put the two tables side by side and the trade shows up immediately: at the very short end Seedance 2’s 480p tier is the cheapest way to try an idea, while Gemini Omni’s 36-credit 4-second test is a fixed, predictable cost. At the top end Seedance 2’s 4K per-second rate climbs past Gemini Omni’s flat 120 credits for a 10-second 4K clip. Exact costs are always shown before you generate, and failed renders are refunded automatically. For the credit side of the equation in general, see VdoBloom’s pricing.
Content filtering: STRICT versus MODERATE
Gemini Omni carries a STRICT label, the strictest tier on VdoBloom. Google’s provider-side filters apply to both the uploaded image and the prompt, so explicit and sensitive real-person material is likely to be rejected before generation runs. Where a prompt keeps getting refused, the usual fix is to remove suggestive language, named-likeness references or graphic description rather than rephrase around the filter.
Seedance 2 is rated MODERATE — a step stricter than the HOT label on the older Seedance 1.5 Pro and V1 models, but more permissive than STRICT. Routine commercial and creative prompts pass normally, and explicit material is still refused. If a concept keeps getting declined on Seedance 2, the older Seedance 1.5 Pro is the more permissive fallback within the same family.
Pick Gemini Omni if...
- Your shot is image-anchored and needs to hold an approved composition exactly.
- You want a short, high-fidelity clip at up to 4K in 16:9 or 9:16.
- You are happy with 4-second beats as the shortest option and prefer a flat, predictable price.
- The concept is mainstream and will pass STRICT filtering.
Pick Seedance 2 if...
- You need a duration between the fixed steps — anything from 4 to 15 seconds, second by second.
- Framing matters beyond 16:9 and 9:16, especially 21:9 or 1:1.
- The clip needs audio baked in at no extra cost.
- You want to draft at 480p before paying for a 4K final, or generate from text as well as a still.
There is no overall winner here, because the specs do not overlap enough to rank them. The decision is mechanical: match the durations, the framings and the filter tier to the shot you actually have to deliver. For pricing on each side, the Gemini Omni image-to-video pricing breakdown and the Seedance 2 pricing breakdown walk through the tables in full.
Frequently asked questions
Which model is cheaper for a short clip?
It depends on the setting. Gemini Omni’s cheapest option is 36 credits for 4 seconds at 720p or 1080p. Seedance 2’s cheapest is a 4-second 480p draft at 31 credits, but its 720p and 1080p tiers cost far more per second than Gemini Omni’s flat pricing at the same durations.
Does Gemini Omni generate audio?
Its catalog entry does not list audio generation, so plan on adding sound separately. Seedance 2 generates audio by default and the price already includes it, with no separate charge.
Can I make a 21:9 clip on either model?
Only on Seedance 2, which supports six aspect ratios including 21:9. Gemini Omni is limited to 16:9 and 9:16, so a source image in another shape will be cropped or padded to fit.
Which one has stricter content filtering?
Gemini Omni, at the STRICT tier — the strictest on VdoBloom, applying to both uploads and prompts. Seedance 2 is rated MODERATE, which passes routine commercial and creative prompts while still refusing explicit material.
Can both generate from text, or only from an image?
Seedance 2 handles both text and image input, priced the same at 480p, 720p and 1080p, plus a reference-video mode. Gemini Omni Image-to-Video is image-only: it needs one starting image plus a text prompt describing the motion.
Want to run either side by side? Open the image-to-video tool, upload a still, and set the duration, resolution and aspect ratio you need — the exact credit cost is shown before you generate.
