What Grok Imagine spicy mode is

Turning spicy mode on changes how strict the filter is. It does not switch the filter off. Under xAI’s Acceptable Use Policy, these stay prohibited in every mode:

• Depicting real people’s likeness in a pornographic way, including “undressing” or “nudifying” photos of real people.
• Any sexualization of minors, real or fictional.
• Non-consensual intimate imagery and deceptive deepfakes.
• Removing the Grok watermark. Grok’s FAQ says generated images and videos carry a watermark, and there is no setting to remove it.

In practice spicy mode was built for fictional or generic characters and consenting-adult aesthetics, not for real people’s photos. Uploads of real faces are where most moderation hits land.

Why Grok says “video moderated” or blurs the result

A blurred frame or a “moderated” label means Grok produced something and its output check decided it crossed a line, or the prompt or upload was flagged before generation. Common triggers:

1. A real person’s photo combined with revealing or intimate content. This is the most tightly controlled combination since January 2026.
2. Anything that could read as a minor: young-looking faces, school uniforms, childlike proportions, or words like “girl” or “teen” in a sensual prompt.
3. Explicit nudity or sexual acts, which spicy mode was never meant to produce.
4. Regional rules. X said in January 2026 that it would geoblock generating images of real people in “bikinis, underwear, and similar attire” where that is illegal, so identical prompts can behave differently by country.
5. Stricter thresholds after updates. Prompts that passed months ago can be moderated now.
