How to Extend an AI Video Clip by a Few Seconds
Extend an AI video by 4 to 15 seconds from its real last frame: models, credit costs, the 60-second limit, the manual last-frame route and seamless tips.
To extend an AI video clip by a few seconds on VdoBloom, open the finished video, press Extend, describe what happens next, choose how many seconds to add (4 to 15 on Seedance models) and generate. The tool reads the clip's real last frame, renders a new shot from it and stitches the two into a new video, keeping your original. On the default Seedance 2 Fast at 720p, adding 5 seconds costs 60 credits (50 for the clip plus a 10-credit stitch); Seedance 2 Mini at 480p adds 4 seconds for 17. You can keep extending until the video is about 60 seconds long.
Quick facts
- Where: the Extend button on a finished video, in the result player and in My Creations.
- How it works: the next shot starts from the video's actual last frame, so there is no jump at the join.
- Added length: 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 15 seconds on Seedance 2, 2 Fast, 2 Mini and 2.5; 3, 5, 8, 10 or 15 seconds on Kling 3.0; 3 to 15 seconds on Wan 3.0; 5 or 10 seconds on Wan 2.7 Same Look.
- Total limit: about 60 seconds per video. "Extend again" continues the new, longer video.
- Cost: the model's normal price for the added seconds plus a 10-credit stitch fee, shown on the button before you start. Failed extensions are refunded.
- Your original is kept. The extended version is saved as a new video.
How can I extend an AI video clip by a few seconds?
- Open the finished clip. Any completed video in your VdoBloom account shows an Extend button on its player.
- Describe what happens next. Write one short beat: "she turns to the window and smiles", "the camera keeps pushing in slowly". If you are stuck, the tool can suggest a next beat from the last frame for free.
- Pick the model and the added length. Seedance 2 Fast at 720p is the default. Choose fewer seconds for a small extension; 4 or 5 seconds is enough to finish an action that was cut short.
- Check the price and press Extend. The button shows the total, for example "60 credits · 50 for the 5s clip + 10 stitch".
- Review the join. Play the seam a few times. If it holds, you can press Extend again on the new video.
What does it cost to extend a video?
You pay the chosen model's own price for the new seconds, plus 10 credits to stitch the clips. Examples for one extension:
| Model and setting | Added seconds | Clip | Stitch | Total credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2 Mini, 480p | 4 | 7 | 10 | 17 |
| Seedance 2 Mini, 720p | 5 | 17 | 10 | 27 |
| Kling 3.0, 720p | 5 | 28 | 10 | 38 |
| Seedance 2 Fast, 720p (default) | 5 | 50 | 10 | 60 |
| Seedance 2, 720p | 5 | 82 | 10 | 92 |
| Seedance 2 Fast, 720p | 10 | 100 | 10 | 110 |
New accounts get 10 free credits, which is not quite enough for the cheapest extension. One-time credit packs never expire and there is no subscription required; the Lite pack is 300 credits for $19.50. See pricing.
Which model should I extend with?
- Seedance 2 Mini: the cheapest way to test whether the continuation works, at 480p or 720p.
- Seedance 2 Fast: the default and a good balance of speed and quality; it also generates sound.
- Seedance 2 and 2.5: for 1080p and the strongest motion.
- Kling 3.0: 720p or 1080p, 3, 5, 8, 10 or 15 seconds.
- Wan 3.0: up to 1080p at a low cost per second, with sound.
- Wan 2.7 Same Look: also uses the clip's opening frame as a reference, which helps keep faces and outfits from drifting over several extensions.
You do not need to extend with the model that made the original. Matching it usually gives the most consistent look, though.
The manual route: last frame to image-to-video
If you want full control, or the clip came from somewhere else, you can do the same thing by hand.
- Pause the clip on its very last frame and export that frame as an image (most editors and video players can save a still).
- Upload the still to Image to Video and describe the next action, using the same style words as the original prompt.
- Join the two clips end to end in your video editor.
This costs only the image-to-video clip, but you do the export and the join yourself, and a frame grabbed a little early creates a visible jump. The Extend button avoids that by reading the real last frame on the server.
Tips for a seamless extension
- Continue the motion, do not restart it. If the camera was pushing in, say "the camera keeps pushing in". A new camera move at the seam reads as a cut.
- Keep the prompt style. Reuse the lighting, lens and colour words from the first prompt.
- One action per extension. Several short extensions hold together better than one long one that tries to do everything.
- Watch faces over many rounds. Small drift adds up; switch to Wan 2.7 Same Look if a face starts to change.
- Want it to loop instead? Use Seamless Loop, which makes the end flow back into the start.
What extending cannot do
- It cannot go past about 60 seconds in total for one video.
- It adds time at the end only, not in the middle or at the start.
- It cannot bring back something that left the last frame. If a character walked out of shot, the model only sees what is in that final frame.
- The Extend button works on videos made in your VdoBloom account; for clips from elsewhere, use the manual route above.
FAQ
How can I extend an AI video clip by a few seconds?
Press Extend on the finished video, describe the next beat, choose 4 or 5 added seconds and generate. VdoBloom starts the new shot from the real last frame and stitches it on, keeping the original. The default Seedance 2 Fast at 720p costs 60 credits for 5 added seconds; Seedance 2 Mini at 480p costs 17 for 4.
Can I extend the same video more than once?
Yes. Press Extend again on the new, longer video. Extensions stop at about 60 seconds in total.
Does extending change my original video?
No. The extended video is saved as a new file and the original stays in My Creations.
Will the extension have sound?
On the Seedance models, yes: they generate sound with the new shot at no extra credit cost. Other models may add a silent section.
What if the extension fails?
The credits are refunded automatically, and you can try again with a simpler next-beat prompt or a different model.
