Make a Song With AI From Your Own Lyrics

Turn your own lyrics into a sung AI song or rap: format lyrics, pick genre and vocals, keep a rap flow, make a music video. 6 to 12 credits a song.

By VdoBloom Team

To make a song with AI using your own lyrics, open the AI Music Generator, write a style prompt (genre, mood, tempo, vocal type), paste your lyrics with section tags such as [Verse] and [Chorus], and generate. MiniMax Music 2.6 makes a complete song for 12 credits; ACE-Step Base or Turbo costs 6 credits and lets you set an exact length from 30 seconds to 5 minutes and the vocal language. You get an MP3. The same steps make a rap song: ask for a hip hop style and a tempo, and write short lines with an even rhythm. New accounts get 10 free credits, enough for one ACE-Step song.

How do I make a song with AI using my own lyrics?

  1. Pick a model. MiniMax Music 2.6 for a complete, radio-style song. ACE-Step Base when you need an exact length or a vocal language. ACE-Step Turbo for quicker drafts with the same controls.
  2. Write the style prompt. One line with genre, mood, tempo, instruments and voice, for example "acoustic pop ballad, 75 BPM, warm piano and strings, soft female vocals".
  3. Paste your lyrics in the Lyrics box, formatted as below.
  4. Set length and language if you are on ACE-Step.
  5. Generate. The track plays in the preview and has a Download MP3 button.
  6. Run it again if a line is sung oddly. Each run is a new take; change one detail at a time.

Format your lyrics so the model follows them

Music models sing what is easy to sing. The way you lay out the text matters as much as the words.

  • Label every section on its own line: [Verse], [Pre-Chorus], [Chorus], [Bridge], [Outro]. The model uses the labels to change energy and melody.
  • Keep lines short. Six to ten syllables per line is easy to sing. Long sentences get rushed or cut.
  • Keep lines in a section a similar length so they fit the same melody.
  • Repeat the chorus word for word each time. Repetition is what makes it a hook.
  • Write numbers and names how they sound, for example "twenty twenty-six" instead of "2026", and spell unusual names phonetically.
  • Do not put stage directions inside lyric lines. Put "soft", "spoken" or "big ending" in the style prompt instead.
  • Match the length. Two verses, a chorus twice and a bridge fit a 2 to 3 minute song. A 30-second track fits one verse and one chorus.

Example layout:

[Verse]
Morning light on an empty street
Coffee cold, but the day feels sweet
[Chorus]
Hold on, hold on, we're almost home
Hold on, hold on, you're not alone

Pick genre, mood and vocal

Part of the promptExamples
Genre and era"90s boom-bap hip hop", "modern Afrobeats", "lo-fi chillhop", "romantic Bollywood ballad"
Mood"uplifting", "melancholic", "tense and cinematic"
Tempo"75 BPM" for a ballad, "120 BPM" for pop, "128 BPM" for house
Instruments"warm Rhodes piano, upright bass, brushed drums"
Vocal"soft male vocals", "powerful female vocals", "duet", "spoken-word verse"

Specific words beat general ones. "Good music" tells the model nothing; "slow acoustic folk, fingerpicked guitar, breathy female vocal" tells it a lot. For songs in Hindi or Tamil, write the lyrics in that language, use ACE-Step and type the language in the Vocal Language field.

How to make a rap song with AI

Rap uses the same tool. What changes is the style prompt and how tightly you write the bars.

  1. Name the sub-genre and tempo. "Boom-bap hip hop, 90 BPM, dusty drums, jazzy sample, confident male rap vocals" or "dark trap, 140 BPM half-time, 808 bass, hi-hat rolls, aggressive rap delivery".
  2. Write in bars. One line is one bar. Keep the syllable count close from line to line so the flow stays steady.
  3. Put the rhyme at the end of the line, and pair lines (AABB) for a first draft. Internal rhymes are a bonus.
  4. Label a [Hook]. A sung or chanted hook between verses gives the track shape. Ask for "sung hook" in the prompt if you want melody there.
  5. Keep verses to 8 or 16 bars. Very long verses get rushed.
  6. Use ACE-Step for length control. A one-verse rap fits 45 to 60 seconds; a full track with two verses and hooks fits 2 to 3 minutes.

Example bars:

[Verse]
Up at dawn with a plan in my pocket
Every no that I heard was a rocket
[Hook]
Keep it moving, keep it moving, yeah

If the delivery comes out sung instead of rapped, add "rap vocals, rhythmic spoken delivery, no singing on verses" to the style prompt and generate again.

Which model should I use?

ModelCreditsLength controlVocal language fieldInstrumental switchBest for
MiniMax Music 2.612NoNoYesA complete song that sings your lyrics
ACE-Step Base630 to 300 sYesNo (write "no vocals")Exact length, Hindi or Tamil vocals
ACE-Step Turbo630 to 300 sYesNoFast drafts of several ideas

A good habit: draft on ACE-Step Turbo at 6 credits to check the lyrics fit, then make the final on MiniMax Music 2.6 or ACE-Step Base.

Make a music video from the song

The AI Music Video Generator takes your song (MP3, WAV or M4A, up to 25 MB, using a 10 to 60 second section) and one character photo, plans a shot for each musical phrase, films each shot and cuts them on the beat with your song underneath. It can add lyric captions. Planning is free; you pay for the clips plus a 10-credit build fee. For example, a 30-second section on Seedance 2 Mini at 480p is 58 credits in total. See how to turn an AI song into a music video.

What the music generator does not do

  • It does not copy a living artist's voice or a copyrighted song. Describe the style instead.
  • Output is one mixed MP3. To split vocals from the beat, use the Vocal Remover.
  • You cannot upload a song to restyle here. For songs you own, use AI Song Cover.
  • It may change or skip a word. Simplify the line and run again.
