Veo 3.1, Kling and Runway sit in the same model picker on VdoBloom, so the useful question is not "which is best" but which one's duration limit, resolution tier and billing shape fits the shot you actually need. Every number on this page is the live setting in the product, not a marketing figure.
The short version: Runway Gen-3 is the cheapest way to test a prompt — 10 credits for a 720p 5-second clip — and it is the default model on the text-to-video tab. Kling gives you the finest control over length: any whole-second duration from 3 to 15 seconds, billed per second. Veo 3.1 is flat-rate per clip, 40 credits on Fast and 160 on Quality, and has no duration selector at all.
Because all three run from one credit balance in the same browser workspace, the practical workflow is to draft on the cheap model, then re-run the winning prompt on the expensive one.

- Runway Gen-4.5 supports 5, 8 or 10 seconds at 48, 77 and 96 credits respectively.
- Kling 3.0 is the only one of the three families with a 4K mode (26.8 credits per second) and a sound toggle that raises its standard rate from 5.6 to 8.0 credits per second.
- Image-to-video only: Runway Gen-4 Turbo, Kling V2.5 Turbo, Kling V2.6 and Kling V3 Turbo I2V all require a start image. Runway Gen-3, Runway Gen-4.5, Kling 3.0 and Veo 3.1 work from a text prompt alone.
- Veo 3.1 accepts 1-3 reference images, but reference-to-video runs only on veo3_fast and only at 16:9.
- Veo 3.1's 1080p HD version can only be retrieved for clips generated at 16:9.

2.Draft on Runway Gen-3 at 720p/5s
At 10 credits a run, this is the cheapest place to find out whether your prompt produces the composition and motion you wanted. Iterate here, not on the premium models.
3.Match the model to the clip length you need
Need 12 or 14 seconds? Only Kling V3 Turbo and Kling 3.0 give you that granularity (3-15s). Runway stops at 10 seconds, and Veo 3.1 has no duration control.
4.Re-run the winning prompt on the premium tier
Send the same text to Veo 3.1 Quality (160 credits flat) or Kling V3 Turbo at 1080p (9.0 credits per second). Keep the prompt identical so you are comparing models, not wording.
5.Only reach for 4K when you will actually use it
720p is enough for Reels and Shorts. Kling 3.0's 4K mode costs 26.8 credits per second — worth it for footage that will be cropped, reframed or shown on a large screen.

Can I animate a photo with all three?
Yes, through different entry points. Runway Gen-4 Turbo (5/8/10s at 20/32/40 credits) and Kling V2.5 Turbo (5s = 40, 10s = 80) are image-to-video only. Kling 3.0 and Runway Gen-4.5 take either a text prompt or a first-frame image. Veo 3.1 accepts 1-3 images through its first-and-last-frame and reference-to-video modes.
Which aspect ratios does each support?
