AI Pet Video From a Photo: Dogs, Cats and More

Turn a photo of your dog or cat into a video: moving pet clips, dancing and hug effects, pet portraits and memorial videos. Credit costs and steps.

By VdoBloom Team

To make an AI video of your pet from a photo, upload a clear, well-lit photo to VdoBloom's Image to Video, describe one movement ("the dog tilts its head and wags its tail"), and generate. A 5-second clip costs from 8 credits (Seedance 2 Mini, 480p), one-click effect looks start at 8 credits, a pet hug clip is 10 credits by default, and a still pet portrait is 5 credits. New accounts get 10 free credits, so your first pet clip is free. Free-account downloads carry a watermark, and the AI may change markings or fur pattern slightly, so check the result against the real pet.

Quick facts

  • Input: one photo of your pet. Sharp eyes, the whole head in frame and plain light give the best result.
  • Price: from 8 credits for a 5-second clip; the exact price shows before you generate, and failed clips are refunded.
  • Free: 10 credits at signup plus 2 to 5 credits a day from the daily check-in.
  • Packs: from $10.39 for 200 credits, one-time, never expire. No subscription.
  • Shapes: 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts; 1:1 or 16:9 for other posts.

How to make a video of your dog or cat from a photo

  1. Choose the photo. Eye level, the pet's face fully visible, no other animals overlapping. Busy backgrounds cause wobbly edges.
  2. Open Image to Video and upload it. Pick 9:16 if it is going on TikTok or Reels.
  3. Describe one movement. "The cat slowly blinks and turns its head toward the camera, camera static." Two or three actions in 5 seconds tend to warp paws and faces.
  4. Say what must not change: "keep the white patch on the chest and the blue collar exactly as in the photo". This cuts down on changed markings.
  5. Draft at 480p on Seedance 2 Mini (8 credits). If the motion is right, render a keeper at 720p.
  6. Add sound. Add music in your editor, or a voice line from Text to Speech.

  • Dancing: pick a dance look in AI Video Effects. Effects are built for people, so results on four-legged animals vary; full-body photos of a standing pet work best.
  • Talking pet: lip-sync tools are trained on human faces, so a mouth that moves to speech on a dog is hit and miss. A more reliable route is a short clip of the pet looking at the camera, with a voiceover from Text to Speech as the pet's "thoughts".
  • Pet as a human: make the still first with AI Pet Portrait (the "pet as a person" mode has CEO, chef, astronaut and more), then animate that image with Image to Video.
  • Doorbell-cam funny clip: AI Doorbell Cam Video gives the grainy security-camera look that makes these clips read as "caught on camera".

Pet memorial videos

If you have lost a pet, a gentle few seconds of movement from a favourite photo can mean a lot. Use Image to Video with a quiet prompt ("lying in the sun, breathing slowly, ears twitch once, soft light") and avoid dramatic motion. The AI Hug Video Generator is built for people embracing, so a hug with a pet works best from a single photo of you already holding them. Render a couple of versions and keep the one that looks most like them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make an AI cat video from a photo?

Yes. Upload the photo to Image to Video, describe one movement, and generate. A 5-second clip starts at 8 credits, and new accounts get 10 free credits.

Why does my dog look different in the AI video?

The model redraws every frame, and markings, eye color and ear shape can drift. Use a sharp, front-facing photo, ask for one small movement, and add "keep markings exactly as in the photo" to the prompt.

Can I make my pet talk?

Lip-sync tools are built for human faces, so mouth movement on animals is unreliable. A clip of your pet plus a voiceover works more consistently.

What would my cat look like as a person?

The AI Pet Portrait tool has a "pet as a person" mode for 5 credits per image. You can animate the result afterwards with Image to Video.

Is there a free AI pet video generator?

The 10 signup credits cover one 5-second clip at 480p or one hug clip, and the daily check-in adds 2 to 5 credits a day. Free downloads carry a watermark.

Can I make a pet memorial video?

Yes. Animate a favourite photo with a calm, slow prompt in Image to Video, or try the hug tool with a photo of you holding your pet.
