What each one does
Kling IMAGE O1 (internal id kling-image-o1) is a high-control image model. It does text-to-image and, more usefully, prompt-driven editing with up to 10 reference images in one request. It outputs at 1K or 2K across eight aspect ratios — 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 4:3, 3:4, 9:16, 16:9 and 21:9 — and takes a prompt of up to 2,500 characters. Its reputation is character stability and precise local edits: change the jacket, keep the face.
Kling 3.0 (internal id kling-3.0/video) is the flagship Kling video generation. It runs 3 to 15 seconds at any whole second, in three tiers where the quality selector doubles as the mode: std is 720p, pro is 1080p, and 4K is the top tier. It works from text with a 1:1, 9:16 or 16:9 aspect ratio, or from images — one for the opening frame, two for a first-and-last frame pair. Sound is optional and off by default, which is what makes its low tiers cheap.

The verdict, by use case
Product shots and catalogue variants: Kling IMAGE O1
If the deliverable is a still, video is a wasteful way to get one. Ten colourway variants of the same product are 140 credits ($7.00) in Kling IMAGE O1. The same ten as video stills would cost at least 280 credits and give you less control over the exact frame. The 10-reference-image input is the feature here: feed the product from several angles and the model holds its shape across edits.
Anything with motion: Kling 3.0
Kling IMAGE O1 has no motion path at all. A camera push, a hair flick, a garment moving — that is Kling 3.0, and there is no argument to be had.
Character consistency across a set: Kling IMAGE O1, then Kling 3.0
This is where the pair beats either alone. Generate or edit your character in Kling IMAGE O1 until the face, wardrobe and lighting are right — 14 credits a try, so five attempts cost 70 credits. Kling 3.0 offers three aspect ratios from text. Kling IMAGE O1 offers eight, including 21:9 and the 3:2 and 2:3 photographic ratios. For a wide title card or a banner, the image model is the only one that reaches that shape natively.
A worked pipeline
A 6-second vertical clip of a model in a specific jacket, delivered at 1080p:
- Step 1. Kling IMAGE O1, 9:16, 2K, with three reference photos of the jacket. Three attempts to nail it: 42 credits ($2.10).
