Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5 vs MiniMax H3: 8 Same-Prompt Tests

We ran 8 identical prompts through Kling 4.0, Seedance 2.5 and MiniMax H3. Real clips, scores, credit costs and which model wins faces, motion and text.

By VdoBloom Team

Verdict: no model swept all eight tests. Kling 4.0 is our pick for on-screen text and detailed hand work, and it tied for best dialogue. Seedance 2.5 is the one for fast action and physics. MiniMax H3 is the best value: it won or tied four of eight tests at 20 credits a clip, the lowest price of the three. Kling 4.0 refused one harmless prompt outright.

Disclosure: VdoBloom is our product. It runs all three third-party models: Kling 4.0 (Kuaishou), Seedance 2.5 (ByteDance) and MiniMax H3 (MiniMax). Each model is also available from its maker. We are not paid by any of them for placement.

How we tested

Method: first-pass test, one run per model, scored by our team; we’ll re-run quarterly. Every clip was text-to-video, 16:9, 720p class (MiniMax H3 at 768P), audio on, run on VdoBloom on 27 October 2026. Each clip is the first and only take: no retries, no cherry-picking. One reviewer scored each clip 1 to 5 on prompt adherence, motion, faces and hands, physics, text and audio (only the categories a prompt tests), from frames at 15%, 50% and 85% plus a transcript of the dialogue clip. Lip sync was not checked frame by frame.

Each model got the same eight prompts, word for word, in a single session. The prompts were chosen to stress one skill each: a compound camera move, fast action, a close-up emotional turn, a spoken line, readable text, breaking-glass physics, hand dexterity and a product orbit. Scores are 1 to 5 per category, averaged into one score per clip. A refusal counts as zero.

One run per model means luck plays a part. A model that missed a beat here might nail it on the next seed, so read the per-test results as “what happened on a first try”, which is how most people use these tools.

The eight tests

Clips are shown in the order Kling 4.0, Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3. Press play on each; they load only when you do.

Test 1: Camera move: crane up and orbit

“A lone lighthouse on a black-rock cliff at dusk, waves exploding below. Camera starts low at the waterline, cranes up past the lantern, then slowly orbits 90 degrees to the left. Warm lantern light against cold blue sky.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
3.75 / 5 · 57 cr3.25 / 5 · 126 cr4.0 / 5 · 20 cr

Winner: MiniMax H3. It started low at the waterline, rose past a lantern beam and began a slight orbit: the closest to the full move. Kling got the crane and big waves but no orbit. Seedance went dark and moody, the lantern switched on late and the orbit barely registered.

Test 2: Fast action: rooftop parkour

“A parkour runner in a red hoodie sprints across a rooftop, vaults a vent and jumps a two-metre gap to the next roof, landing in a roll. Handheld tracking shot following from behind, overcast daylight.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
3.2 / 5 · 57 cr4.0 / 5 · 126 cr3.2 / 5 · 20 cr

Winner: Seedance 2.5. The only model to do the whole beat: vault the vent, jump to a lower roof, land in a crouch. Kling passed the vent and tumbled on the same roof. H3 had a clean follow-from-behind run and a leap, but no vent and no visible gap.

Test 3: Close-up emotion: reading a letter

“Close-up of an elderly woman reading a handwritten letter at a kitchen table. Her eyes move along the lines, her lips tremble, and a slow smile turns into quiet tears. Soft window light, shallow depth of field, static camera.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
3.5 / 5 · 57 cr3.75 / 5 · 126 cr3.75 / 5 · 20 cr

Tie: Seedance 2.5 and MiniMax H3. Seedance delivered the full smile-into-tears turn in warm low light. H3 was subtler: trembling lips and moist eyes that feel real, with faint tears. Kling held the face perfectly and smiled, but the tears never came.

Test 4: Dialogue and lip sync: cafe line

“Medium shot of a young man in a cafe facing camera. He says, 'I quit my job today, and honestly, I've never felt better.' Then he laughs and sips his coffee. Natural ambient cafe sound.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
4.25 / 5 · 57 cr4.0 / 5 · 126 cr4.25 / 5 · 20 cr

Tie: Kling 4.0 and MiniMax H3. All three spoke the line word for word (checked against a transcript). Kling had the best audio but added a push-in we didn’t ask for, and the cup blurs at the sip. H3’s grin and sip look natural. Seedance was close behind with quieter audio.

Test 5: On-screen text: neon sign

“A neon sign flickers on above a rainy night street, spelling 'OPEN 24 HOURS' in pink letters. Rain streaks through the glow, slow push-in toward the sign.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
4.5 / 5 · 57 cr4.25 / 5 · 126 cr4.25 / 5 · 20 cr

Winner: Kling 4.0. The sign flickers on in pink, spelled correctly, with a slow push-in and wet reflections. All three spelled the words right. Seedance rendered “OPEN” in teal. H3 made the sign red with extra blue bars and skipped the flicker-on.

Test 6: Physics: wine glass shatter

“Slow-motion: a glass of red wine is knocked off a marble counter, falls, shatters on a tile floor, and the wine splashes outward. Side angle, bright studio light.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
Refused by Kling’s content filter (no clip, no charge)
0 / 5 · 0 cr3.75 / 5 · 126 cr3.25 / 5 · 20 cr

Winner: Seedance 2.5. The glass tips off the marble edge, lands and breaks into shards with a wide splash. H3’s fall and splash look good but the glass mostly stays whole. Kling 4.0 refused this prompt (“flagged as sensitive”, its own content filter), so it scores zero here and was not charged.

Test 7: Hands: card shuffle

“Top-down shot of hands shuffling a deck of playing cards, fanning them out, and flipping the ace of spades face up on green felt.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
3.75 / 5 · 57 cr3.5 / 5 · 126 cr2.75 / 5 · 20 cr

Winner: Kling 4.0. A riffle, a clean fan and a crisp ace of spades, though several fanned cards repeat. Seedance made the most beautiful fan but flipped the ace of hearts, and the camera wasn’t fully overhead. H3 squared the deck and showed kings and jacks: no fan, no ace.

Test 8: Product shot: earbud case orbit

“A matte black wireless earbud case rotates on a reflective white surface, then the lid opens to reveal glowing earbuds. Slow 180-degree orbit, crisp softbox lighting, clean commercial look.”

Kling 4.0Seedance 2.5MiniMax H3
3.75 / 5 · 57 cr3.75 / 5 · 126 cr3.75 / 5 · 20 cr

Tie: all three. Each delivered a usable product shot. Kling’s lid moves a little like rubber. Seedance has the softest studio look but only a small orbit. H3 gave a clean case, blue-lit earbuds and a decent orbit for 20 credits.

The averages are within a fraction of a point of each other, which is smaller than the run-to-run variation you’d expect from one take each. The useful signal is in the individual tests: which kinds of shot each model handled well.

Credits per clip, and per usable clip

These are VdoBloom credit prices. “Usable” means a clip we scored 4 or higher. Refused generations cost nothing, so Kling’s total covers seven clips.

ModelResolution5 s (cr)10 s (cr)Usable takesCredits spent in testCredits per usable take

Seedance 2.5720p1262523 of 81008336
MiniMax H3768P20403 of 816053

With so few runs this is a rough guide, but the direction is clear: H3 makes iteration cheap, so you can afford several takes of a shot for the price of one on the others. Credits are pay-as-you-go and never expire, and the exact price shows before you generate.

Workflow tip: draft cheap, finish on the specialist

Block the shot on MiniMax H3 first: framing, timing and whether the idea works at all. Once the prompt is right, run the final on the model that suits the shot: Kling 4.0 for text or hands, Seedance 2.5 for action. All three sit in the same model picker in Text to Video and Image to Video, on one credit balance. For prompt wording that works on Kling, see our Kling 4.0 prompt guide.

FAQ

Is Kling 4.0 better than Seedance 2.5?

Not across the board. In our eight tests Kling 4.0 won text and hands and tied on dialogue, while Seedance 2.5 won fast action and glass-breaking physics. Their average scores were nearly identical. Pick by the shot.

Which is cheapest per usable clip?

MiniMax H3 on VdoBloom: 20 credits per 5-second clip, and three of its eight takes scored 4 or higher, about 53 credits per usable take in our test.

Which has the best lip sync?

All three spoke our line word for word. Kling 4.0 and MiniMax H3 scored highest on the dialogue test, Seedance 2.5 had quieter audio. We checked the words with a transcript but did not verify lip sync frame by frame.

Which handles on-screen text best?

All three spelled “OPEN 24 HOURS” correctly. Kling 4.0 was the only one to also get the pink colour and the flicker-on exactly as asked.

Which is best for product ads?

Our earbud-case test was a three-way tie. Because H3 costs 20 credits a take, it’s the practical choice for trying several versions; Kling or Seedance are fine for the final.

Why did Kling 4.0 refuse the wine glass prompt?

Kling’s own content filter flagged it as sensitive, probably because red liquid splashing on a floor resembles blood. The other models accepted it. Refused generations aren’t charged.

Which is best for clips longer than 15 seconds?

Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5, both up to 30 seconds per generation. MiniMax H3 tops out at 15 seconds. We tested 5-second clips only, so long-take quality is a future test.

Can I use all three without a subscription?

Yes. On VdoBloom you buy pay-as-you-go credits that never expire, and one balance covers every model in this test.

Will you re-run these tests?

Yes. This is a first-pass test with one run per model. We plan to re-run quarterly, with more takes per prompt, and update this page with the date.
