How do I write a Nano Banana edit prompt?

  1. Upload the photo in the AI Photo Editor and pick a Nano Banana model.
  2. Start with a verb: replace, remove, add, change, turn.
  3. Say where: "the wall behind her", "his left hand", "the top-right corner".
  4. Close with a keep list: face, pose, lighting, framing.
  5. Check the result, then run the next change on the new image.

Background prompts (1 to 6)

  1. Replace the background with a softly blurred city street at dusk; keep the person, pose and lighting on the face unchanged.
  2. Remove everything behind him and put him on a plain light-grey studio backdrop with a soft shadow on the floor.
  3. Change the cluttered room behind her into a bright Scandinavian living room with plants; keep her exactly as she is.
  4. Put the dog on a grassy hill at golden hour, matching the warm light direction on its fur.
  5. Remove the people walking in the background; fill the space with the same street and buildings.
  6. Turn the daytime sky into a dramatic sunset with pink and orange clouds; adjust the light on the building to match.

Outfit and style prompts (7 to 12)

  1. Change his t-shirt to a navy blazer over a white shirt; keep his face, hair and pose identical.
  2. Dress her in a red evening gown that fits her pose; keep jewelry, face and background unchanged.
  3. Using the jacket from the second image, put it on the person in the first image with natural folds and fit.
  4. Change the hair color to copper red with natural highlights; keep the hairstyle and length the same.
  5. Add round gold-rimmed glasses that sit naturally on her nose with correct reflections.
  6. Swap the sneakers for brown leather boots; keep the trousers and stance unchanged.

Headshot and portrait prompts (13 to 18)

  1. Turn this selfie into a professional LinkedIn headshot: charcoal suit, neutral grey background, soft studio light, same face.
  2. Even out the skin tone and reduce shine, but keep pores and natural texture; do not change facial features.
  3. Fix the closed eyes so she looks into the camera with eyes open, matching her real eye color and shape.
  4. Change the harsh overhead light to soft window light coming from the left.
  5. Straighten the tilted framing and extend the image to a 4:5 portrait crop with matching background.
  6. Make the expression a gentle closed-mouth smile; keep everything else the same.

Figurine, toy and stylised prompts (19 to 24)

  1. Turn the person into a 1/7 scale collectible figure standing on a round clear base on a desk, with a printed box beside it showing the same figure.
  2. Make this pet into a soft plush toy sitting on a bed, keeping its markings and colors.
  3. Convert the photo into a clay stop-motion style scene; keep the composition and expressions.
  4. Redraw the family photo as a watercolor painting on textured paper; keep each face recognisable.
  5. Turn the car into a die-cast model on a display shelf with a small name plate.
  6. Make the room look like a miniature dollhouse seen from above, with tilt-shift blur.

Restoration and cleanup prompts (25 to 27)

  1. Restore this old photo: remove scratches, dust and folds, sharpen faces gently, keep it black and white.
  2. Colorise this black-and-white photo with natural, period-appropriate colors; keep grain light.
  3. Remove the power lines crossing the sky and the trash bin on the left; fill naturally.

Product photo prompts (28 to 30)

  1. Place the bottle on a wet black stone surface with water droplets and a single rim light from behind; keep the label text exact.
  2. Put the handbag on a marble table in a sunlit cafe, matching shadows; keep color and stitching unchanged.
  3. Change the label text on the jar to read "Wild Honey" in the same font style. Use Nano Banana Pro for text.

Why does Nano Banana change the face when I edit?

  • No keep list. Always say "keep the face, hair and pose unchanged."
  • Too many changes at once. Background, outfit and light in one prompt invites a full redraw.
  • Small faces. Faces under about a tenth of the frame lose detail; crop closer or use 2K.
  • Repeated edits on edits. After four or five rounds, go back to the original and apply the best prompt once.
